Assuming you already checked all spark plugs, air filter...all ignitions to all cylinders.

1- Check your oil cap to see if you have milky stuff, if there is you have a head gasket problem so it could be replaced.

2- If you don't have milky stuff, check compression pressure, to find out which cylinder is bad, hence bad valves could be replaced.

3- If you don't have any of above, then you do have a problem with the air/gas mixture. The golden ratio is 14.6:1 for air:gas. At idle, there is not having a correct mixture to maintain ignition. At acceleration, throttle open but there is no correction of air and gas mixture to keep going on, hence there is a cut out. The only solution is the replacement fuel distribution. Don't just a rebuilt one, unless you have it done at a specialized shop with warranty. Most people are trying to save money by replace the injectors, but your case is not the solution. Good luck.

Its a hot start issue.

Can be related to low fuel pressure or problem with crank sensor.


Also it can be weak battery or starter.


But possibilities are to be inspected to confirm what exactly it is.------

Engine dies

It's not your battery. It might be your IAC valve (intake air control valve) or an EGR valve, maybe even a vacuum leak. The battery is fine. Your fuel filter is most likely fine. When the fuel filter plugs, the car will usualy idle ok but will lose power during acceleration.

Do you have a check engine light on and what are the codes if any? Your symptoms describe 4 things I have seen go bad on this car. A bad cat converter can cause this. A bas fuel pressure regulator can cause this. Pull vacum hose of fuel pressure regulator and inspect for liquid fuel. If there is any than the part needs replaced. A bad mas air flow sensor can also create this problem. A weak fuel pump can also cause this.

My '98 Camry won't stay started. I start it and it just dies not matter how many times I try it. If I leave my foot on the gas it runs but at soon as my foot leaves the gas it dies.

What you have is a bad Idle Air Control ("I.A.C.") valve. This device admist a precise amount of air to keep the engine running at idle. This is a common issue. Get a new one from a dealer, and you will be up and running fine.
