you will have to fix the pump first.
then test carefully that fans will cycle on and off without air conditioner. if fans wont turn on , check thermo fan switch.
is the evap canister cold? And is the pump turning on and of with the clutch on the ac pump? Also could be a electric motor that controls the flaps in the dash that control hot and cold. I have found that sometimes using the can freon will not put the pump in operating range for the ambient temp on the high and low side. There has to be a certain level on both sides that works with the outside temp!
So when you turn off the air con the noise stops ..
If yes then its the bearings in the Air Con pump which is driven by the same belt and when turning the r13 coolant around the bearings being dry and worn out will start to make the noise Same as the water pump does when it goes, but yours is Air Con Pump.
DONT TAKE IT OFF YOUR SELF. RON
heater core is going bad my dodge ram truck did the same thing for about three months then steam startedcoming out of the vents it was antifreeze i have not fixed it yet i just bypassed it for now cause its hot and i have to take the dash completly out to get to it, and yes my airconditioner was blowing out hot now immediatly after i bypassed it blows cold again.you have to find where it goes into the motor on both sides so follow the hoses from firewall then buy a 3ft hose to go from one side of motor to the other problem fixed! well that is you wont have a heater until you change the heater core
start car.turn on air conditioner high cool .raise hood look to see if the compressor clutch is engaged and running.if yes your ac air door could be stuck closed or the air door vacuum actutator not receiving vacuum.a vacuum line is broken or off. or the control switch bad.that control the AC and heater mode. if compressor clutch is not engagged.check for power at compressor clutch.if yes compressor clutch coil open. or the air conditioner refrigerant R 134 is low take car to a private garage with a good reputation. they wont be expensive as the dealership.have them hook car air conditioner to a manifold gauge set to check your refrigerant low side and high side pressure.
there is no separate pump for the rear a/c. front & rear operate from the same a/c compressor in the engine cmpartment.
There may be a blower motor back there.
Not all switches switch the possitive side of the electrical cicuit, sometimes it switches the negative side and than you wont find current there. The airconditioner unit has a low pressure switch in the system somewhere in the pipe that monitors the amount of gas in the system and if the gas is not enough the switch will not allow current to flow through to the compressor, it is just to protect the compressor from siezing up if there is no lubricant in the system
