this isn't a simple repair job, the knock sensor must be replace, I would also make sure that this IS the knock sensor that is the issue here otherwise if you replace and clear the codes the same issue will appear again, sometimes the engine computer will throw a code that is correct but misinterpreted which I believe might be your case,If you have a knock sensor code on any Nissan (in my experience) replacing the knock sensor will not fix it. The knock sensor detects unwanted engine vibrations, such as miss fires. So if you have a knock sensor code first check your spark plugs, are they in proper condition? (if not replace them). Next quest vans are known for clogging fuel injectors so i would recommend running a can of sea foam injector cleaner.
so you change the knock sensor right. if so, is there any noise coming from engine . the knock sensor tell pcm to retard timing so there is no ping ping in engine advance timing.pcm apply 12 volts to knock sensor when it hear a noise vibrating sensor the voltage will drop down and tell pcm the info.
Might be your knock sensors causing this. Could be some water inside and they need to be replaced. Look up where your knock sensors are in a chiltons book(or w.e u prefer) for your van and follow instructions to the T when getting to the sensors. If there is water or gunk clean it out and replace make sure they are in tight. Hope this helps some.
Well the knock sensor is located under the lower intake manifold, between the two cylinder banks in the valley. It's about a 3 hour job for an experienced technician, but I have to ask why you want to replace it.
If you have a knock sensor code on any Nissan replacing the knock sensor will not fix it. The knock sensor detects unwanted engine vibrations, such as spark knock. So if you have a knock sensor code first check your spark plugs, are they ok? (if not replace them). Next Quest vans are known for clogging fuel injectors so I'd recommend running a can of sea foam injector cleaner or going to your local shop and having a professional injector cleaner run through your car.
If problems still persist after having good plugs and running an injector cleaner through, other things to look for would be intake leaks (vacuum leaks), bad mass airflow sensor or a jumped timing belt, which you will need an experienced Technician to check
