From the description of the symptoms it seems that you have a transmission failure. Here are some components that can cause these symptoms. 1:Torque converter malfunction 2:Input shaft failure 3:Intermediate solenoid 4:pump failure 5: intermediate band. There are several other components in the transmission that can cause the symptoms described but if the transmission has to be removed they'll be addressed anyway. Items 3 and 5 above can be repaired with the transmission in the car. Sometimes Ford vehicles will send an error code for electrical component failure in the transmission.

Automatic I presume? While you claim the transmission is not slipping, the symptoms seem to point in that direction. The "punch" it, increases the load on the transmission. This behavior also points to drive line (transmission problems. It may be too late, but professional service may save the transmission.

U never said what vehicle you have ..but there should be shift solenoids inside transmission pan a lot of times this go bad .also check you fluid lever if low it will cause this to happen as well

THE REV LIMITER IS INSIDE THE ECM AND IS NOT SERVICABLE. IT KEEPS THE ENGINE FROM OVER REVING AND IS ELECTRONICLY CONTROLLED

I've replaced fuel filter, 1999 contour when Iam driving at 65 miles per hour or 50 wish seems to shutter, shifting up and down ..also when I floor it it revs and repetitive fast chugging happens every...

Have the engine hooked up to a diagnostic meter to see exactly where the problem is. No sense in replacing a lot of parts when only one or two may be necessary.

Have the throttle positioning sensor checked.A faulty sensor will cause the car to run poorly.

Water in the cylinders is a blown head gasket. Head job an easy $800.00 +

My ford contour 2.0L Fi Automatic- can't go more

The vehicle has a rev limiter. Will it rev over 3500 when you drive it? If no, then I would guess that the exhaust might be partially restricted. But the engine computer won't allow you to free rev the engine that high in park and neutral.

Engine gets hot it spits and sputters won;t rev up i straight wired the fans but no help maby got hotter changed thermostat when i could drive it it would heat up halfway on gauge then about 5 miles later...
