When I took the seats out on mine and put them back in the airbag fault light came on because the steering wheel airbag went faulty
So one of the other airbags or seatbelt tensioners is showing a fault only way to find out which is to get the fault codes read to find what it is that's unhappy
So it could be one of the other bags has had ahissy fit so get the fault codes read to find which one is faulty or poorly connected
This does't make since? You are putting 09 seats in a 69? Air bags don't come in to play. you shouldn't have a problem, beside mounting the seats. Bolt pattern...

-This is for pontiac grand ams 1999-2005 only.
-There are no frontal airbag impact sensors nor are there belt tensioners.
-The SRS system consists of only the (driver airbag) ,(passanger airbag),and the (airbag control module) in 1999-2005 grand ams.
If you crash/wrecked and airbags deployed you will need.
-Driver and Passanger airbags
-Airbag control module
You can buy cheap airbags from a local junkyard any year from 1999-2005 will fit.
You can also find an airbag control module for cheap at your local junk yard BUT YOU MUST FIND ONE WITH THE SAME (PART NO.) AND (SERV NO.) AS THE ONE YOUR REPLACING.The (part no.) and (serv no.) should be at top left of airbag control module.However it does (Not) have to match numbers under barcode or the numbers at the far bottom right of airbag control module.
After you get both airbags and airbag module
-Disconnect car Battery
-Replace airbags
-Replace airbag module (under passanger seat)
-Double check all connections and connect battery.
Congradulations!Your airbags should be back online.
Notes: Two torx 35 head screws hold the driver airbag, access is through two holes behind steering column.
To remove passanger airbag you have to remove glovebox it uses (7mm)screws.After you remove you will see a pair of (10mm)screws holding airbag.
To remove airbag control module First remove passanger seat 2(15mm).Then after removing you will notice a raises area kinda like a vertical bump.Take a razor blade to your carpet and cut it to explose the module underneath.
The airbag module is held by three screws depending on the year of your car it varies.Most likely 3 (10mm).
CANT DISABLE AIRBAGS NEED TO HAVE AIRBAGS CODE SCAN AND FIX THE PROBLEM.AIRBAGS IS A SAFETY FEATURE WITH CAR LIKE SEAT BELTS.YOU CANT REMOVE EITHER IF YOU DO YOU WILL FAIL STATE INSPECTION.THEY WONT PASS STATE INSPECTION IF CAR MISSING SAFETY FEATURES OR AIRBAGS AND SEAT BELTS DONT WORK YOU WILL FAIL STATE INSPECTION.
the passenger airbag is disabled automatically, the system is called the "smart Airbag system" anytime there is less than 50 pounds in the pass seat (like a child) the air bag is turned off by the control module, there is no manual override switch like the older systems have.
the srs is a system made to monitor your air bag and seat restaints if it is on you might need to replace your seat belt buckles or you might have a problem with your air bags
It's unlawful to replace a deployed airbag with one not designed for the vehicle in some states. It's also unlawful to disable the airbag which by virtue of not replacing the airbag after it has been deployed. This car sounds like a headache waiting to happen. One has to wonder what kind of collision the car was involved in to make the previous airbag deploy. At the very least, verify the DMV and car safety laws where you live prior to making the purchase and if you're still intent on buying the car, you should get a CARFAX report first. lol sometimes check the car manual, its a security device for when children sits in front, when the weight is not high enough on the passenger seat (i.e. child) it turns off the airbag so the kid wouldnt be hurt by the airbag in case of an accident
