Right turn signal possible short

Right rear turn signal bulb was constantly on one day with no key in ignition. Had to unplug harness to get light to go off. Plugged harness back, now have no turn signal. Test light picks up tail and stop but not turn. Signal flasher flashes as if bulb burned out (fast). Bulb is good, front and mirror signal works. Can hear the flasher operating. When cruise is on and r/turn is activated, cruise cancels. Could it possibly be a bad flasher?

The wire is shorted.

trailer hitch hack job.

collision damage to rear.? wrecked the harness.

why would the flasher be bad, if left side front and rear works perfectly

we use a 15amp circuit breaker to replace the flasher fuse.

then find the short, (beaker keeps popping) when right turns are selected.

is this car under warranty?

did some one put in an illegal larger fuse in this circuit? dont

its a simple shorted line

we have a thing (real edison like) called an ammeter

we can measure the actual short, all look here its 15amps

just as the breaker trips, bingo city

then all we do is start pulling all inline connectors to find the section that is shorted, front or rear.

does that help?:

Just Right turn signal not working in rear. Back light and brake light working.

    Checked fuses and bulbs.

ok RR dead,, off or stuck on, and RF is fast , that fast means there is s short. so why not replace all lamps on right side 1 by 1, (both) fixed now? (lamps do short) and if not fixed now that means th wiring is bad. there. on rear is my guesss, the one most dim is most shorted. see? most DIY just replace the cheap lamps. first. before going deeper, or swap left for right of (far afield, etc)

i have the 2010 book, and it has TURN module, with 4 outputs, i think they are isolated, front/rear but, if the rear is shorted, or lamp out , it flashes fast to tell you, its bad. see? why not replace RR bulb, (checking for collision damage there, and trailer wiring hacks)

keep in mind its a computer doing the blinking so can be programmed to blink fast for zero current and too much. as a warning to the driver, the video link is here, and both lamps in video are the type that love to short. (cheap brand lamps= do that easy.)

now you know where it is , and how to change it. the lamps have numbers on the side, (if lucky) if not lucky the operators manual in the glove box lists them.

05 trailblazer night time running tailight won't turn on

It might be the same bulb, but it is a separate circuit in the bulb socket. The brake and turn signals are on the same circuit and the tail lights are a separate circuit. A simple 12v test light can make tracing your problem simple. If you can unplug your circuit board and probe the harness that goes to it. Verify that you have there is power to the board for each function, if not, you have an issue in your harness and need to look further up, like at the split for left right and trailer plug.

Why does my turn signal/ hazard light fuse keep blowing out

you have a short in one of the light sockets or a worn wire from the wiring harness. could be the flasher assembly. are the turn signals different bulbs from the brake lights? Does using the brakes blow the fuse? (Rear lights or brake light switch on brake pedal). left or right turn signal blowing the fuse will tell which side has the short. 4 ways only, replace the relay.

Left bleaker and break light not working. Turn signal works bleaks faster than right side.

Has the vehicle been in an accident on the left rear side. First check the bulb to be sure it is not defective, trade it out with the side that works properly to test. If the bulb works well then My thought are you may have a shorted wire. The turn signal flasher works by heat build up within the flasher the heat is caused by the load of the bulbs, the load heats the metal spring causing it to open the circuit then as quickly as it cools down the circuit closes again lighting the bulbs.
There is also a possibility of a defect in the turn signal mechanism on the steering column. The turn signal switch on many models does three different things on many models that use the same bulb element / or bulb for brake and turn on rear of vehicle. It controls the circuit for brake light by sending power both left and right side rear when turn signal is in neutral position then when turn signal is in left turn the switch cancels brake light power to left side rear and supplies flasher power to left side while maintaining brake light supply to the right side rear, and so on opposite when the right turn is chosen on turn signal switch. The turn signal indicators on the dash normally run off the same circuit as front turn signal bulb only which is also controlled by turn signal switch. Front has turn signals but no brake light.
I think there is an additional load on the left side rear turn circuit and it could be either a wire that is shorted or the turn signal switch if the same bulb element is used for both functions.
Often times if trailer lighting is connected the flasher will also blink a little faster because of the extra load of additional bulbs.

Right turn signal possible short

I think your flasher is working properly if its blinking fast while that light is out. I think you may have a grounding issue with the wires on that light. Unplug it again and look all down the wires to see if there are any cracks or brakes. You can take the bulb out and attach the positive lead to the bulb and ground it to the chassis. It should turn on. If it doesn't then your problem is in the positive lead, if it does turn on your problem is with the ground wire.

Turn signal not working

on an older car this woul dsimply mean that the turn signal flasher was burned out for that side. today its more complex. the turn signal flasher is a series of resistors and timer modules located in the workings of the body control module. This can be a simple problem with a shorted line, or a faultly turn switch or something as complex as needing a new body control module. This is something that needs to be repaired by a quality automotive mechnican with an electrical backround, and unfortunatley unless your in the nyc area i have none to suggest to you.

Left Turn Signal Rapidly Blinks

Sounds to me like a bad ground. When the current can't complete through a ground circit it feeds back through the elements ancd can cause all sorts of wierd syptoms.

The fast blink itself can be casued by a burnt out bulb I would check that first.

Then I would check the trailter harness if there is one and unpluch any harness that may be plugged into it. also check each bulb to see if it is seated well. you may be able to see if there is corrorsionaround the bulb terminals at this time is so yo may need to replace the light assembly. Also you could look for any spot where maybe someone in the past tried to tie into the harness to hook up additional lights etc. this may allo moisture in and corroded to the point the wire is "open"
