Sounds like a U-Joint or hubb (wheel) bearing.

What causes engine vibration in 3rd and 4th gears?

When synchros go bad they will NOT cause a vibration. They will make a kerchunk noise when you try to shift to that gear. I know. I rebuilt my transmission (Type: W59) because of bad synchros in 2nd gear.

I would look for bad U-Joints, or a bad carrier bearing. This could also happen if you went to a tire size larger than 31x10.5. The 2.7L 3RZ doesn't produce enough HP to run 33's. It will bog down on a hill in 3rd. You could also have some bad half-shafts up front. If you keep the hubs locked they may be dragging you down.

Are your tires chopped?

99 Saturn SL2 gears

Hello
You will need to have an experienced technical drive this before attempting any repairs, but my gut feeling is that you will need to rebuilt the transmission. That takes many special tools and a high degree of skill and training and is not something that really can be done at home with common hand tools.

I have a 1997 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 3.4L with a 5 speed manual transmission with 98K miles. I just bought this truck and fairly new to Tacoma's but am mechanically inclined. I have a vibration that is mostly...

Sounds like a clutch related problem to me.. a few clues you gave.. the vibration.. sign of a worn pilot bearing.. clutch not engaging until top of pedal.. worn clutch lining.. the next thing will be slipping or grabbing..

At some point you will need to replace the clutch and pressure plate.. have the flywheel resurfaced.. insist on a new pilot bearing and inspect the clutch master and slave while all this is going on.

With good stick driving habits..and good components.. it could last a lot longer than the original.. if should go a lot longer.

Timing belt- your overdue by 8k miles if it hasn't been done.
You may want to replace the water pump, thermostat and drive belts while your at it.

Best of luck!

Vibration comming from center of drive train . wheel bearings seem ok

probably a u-joint. the only way to ck yhis properly is to drop the axle side of the drive line, then check for ruff spots by moving the parts and feel for binding

I have a 2002 Grand Am. Got the transmission checked and was told it's fine. It does not put out any codes and oil looked fine also. Around 3rd gear it feels to shift early. When I give it gas, it seems...

if your driving it normal your shift points should be from 1st to 2nd=18 to 22 mph
2nd to 3rd=28 to 32mph
3rd to od=48 to 50mph
these all change by how much throttle pressure is being use,
are you sure it's not fuel filter or plugs and wire surge your feeling

05 camry SE 2.4L. while driving i feel a vibration under my feet.

Without feeling the vibration, it is hard to speculate, but, my experience here is this: you may have a bad rear wheel bearing. It is covered for 5 years/60,000 miles by Toyota
