The steering wheel is locked when the ignition is turned off. Sometimes when getting out of the car, some people will be holding on to the steering wheel. Occasionally, the steering wheel will be pulled as they get out of the car. This will cause the locking mechanism to be pulled past it's normal locking position, making it impossible to insert your key. You may be able to correct this by turning the steering wheel to the left then to the right, back and forth with a strong grip on the wheel, while trying to insert your key.at the same time. If you cannot get the steering wheel back to it's normal alignment, where your key can be inserted, call your local KIA dealer and ask for help. They should come to you and fix it for you. They made have to remove the steering wheel to release the locking mechanism and realign the steering wheel to line up properly with the lock.

was the ignition switch getting hard to turn with the key for a while or did this just all of a sudden happen usually the problem has been going of for a while but people just ignore it until it gets to this point,it sounds like the tumblers in the ignition key switch have gone bad and the tumbler assembly needs to be replaced, the new tumbler assembly can keyed to the original key if the key is not worn out.this should be replaced with a new key if it is.
