Cant get my dodge charger to crank i have key in hand but car says key not detected ?

The most likely reason would be bad contacts on the starter relay or starter solenoid. You aren't getting enough amps to the starter.

There should be power o the small terminal of the stater anytime the key is in the crank position. I would start with checking that. If there is no power you will need to trace that circuit back.

That wire gets power from the starter relay and the relay gets power from fuse 20 in the TIPM (underhood fuse box). The starter relay control side starts at the ignition switch. The pink with dark green wire should have power with the key in the crank position. That power goes to fuse #10 in the TIPM. it then goes to the starter relay. the starter relay is grounded by the PCM.

First does it crank, if it does then check to see if the fuel injectors are getting fuel.....could be a fuel pump...

second....if there is nothing when you turn the key and the battery is good and the starter was replaced...it could be a bad ground.....thats the ground coming off your battery and goes to your chassis of the car.........let me know how you make out.

Are you using a valet key? It requires the factory key that has a chip in it that the vehicle security system can identify. Anything else will not defeat the security system. And sometimes, the security system must be reset via the dealer's scan tool and access codes only they have. Sorry I couldn't be more help

have you checked the fuse's , does it crank and not fire or does not even crank ? your owners hand book should provide the reset procedure or contact a dealer

the ignition switch need to change and re programe sys
