What about the condition of the battery? Try checking for spark with a fully charged battery.

Hi there sound very much like a failed fuel pump, they are electric and is possibly under your back seat, turn ignition on a listen closely for a humming noise, if not there then I would say you need to replaces the pump, check to see if you have power to the pump first, use a test light, hope this helps cheers good luck

I have a 1993 hyuandai excel that doesnt seem to want to keep running. it turns over but after i drive for a while it sometimes just conks out, as in the revs drop and i have to try pull over so i can try...

All Hyundai excel owners need to be on their toes, and watch for little problems turning into bigger problems. You have to be a dedicated mechanic to keep the little green machine going! So I salute you for being outstanding.
Electrical problems like yours could be an ignition problem you haven't yet gotten to, or could also be a failing fuel pump, hard to say, but as you can see, stalling problems are usually gas or spark related. That's where you should begin checking, but honestly, if you don't have a multimeter, you would only be down to guessing. It would be worth it in the end to pay for a diagnostic test, that or try one used part after another, the computer, the crank angle sensor (not a used one for that), the ignition module. Well, that should cover the ignition system with what you've already replaced. Of course you have to consider the considerable amount of wiring and wiring connectors and relays and such, when saying ignition system. Even the ignition switch is part of it. If you lose spark: the computer, the crank angle sensor, and the ignition module or power transistor as some cars have. Those are what make the coils work to generate high voltage for spark all the time. A lot of electrical components fail when they get hot- a coil is a classic example. The crank angle sensor is another.
Do you have a good fuel filter? Can you hear the fuel pump come on when you turn the key to on? It should come on for a couple of seconds with the key turned to on. When the car stalls, listen for the pump especially, by first just turning the key to on, before you try to start it. If you can't hear the pump, have the fuel pressure checked. The problem may lie down that route.
Just a side note: several years back, I almost bought a '91 excel, not running. But after talking to the owner who was very honest, changed my mind. He said he thought the fuel pump may have gone out again, or the computer may need replacing. There was a common problem in the fuel pump wiring at the computer, as I recall, poor connections at the computer caused an internal short in the computer and it affected the fuel pump.
Well good luck, keeping it tuned and turning, that's the key for older cars.

My Madza died while driving down th highway, felt

If you dont have much money, guessing what parts to change gets expensive. First, you need to verify if it has fuel pressure and spark, that will lead you in the direction to start looking for the problem. Pull 1 spark plug wire off and see if it will jump a 1/2" gap, If so, thats good. If no spark, make sure the cam is turning, you may have a broken timing belt.

1993 Hyundai Excel motor runs very rich fuel mixture at idle and at all speeds. Fuel injected.Stalls easily at idle.Black smoke out of exhaust.Have replaced temp sensor to no avail.

sure he has an ecm installed .. its an injection based car.. probably air filter isn't that good .. also check if air intake pass is clear of any wastes

Engine shuts down

This is probably a bad fuel pump. Maybe the fuel pump is going bad gradually, wherein it will work now and fail after. Consider replacing your fuel pump.
