Has the blower motor been replaced as well. If you put one resistor on, and it goes bad again, the motor is pulling too many amps and burning it up.

Blower Motor Only Works On High - 2012 Dodge Avenger 2.4 L 4CYL

High fan speed goes through a relay to power the fan.

Lower speeds go through the resistor.

You will have to check the wiring to see if there is a fault to the resistor, if you do not find one you may need a control head. You did check ALL fuses right?

should be just above the blower motor. You will need to remove the glove box door to gain access.

The heater in my 2002 Dakota works only at the very highest setting. There is no power at the lowers settings. The defrost light doesn't come on until that setting also, so definantly no power. When turned...

I'm assuming you mean the fan only works on high. If that's the case the blower motor resistor is bad. When the fan switch is on high it puts a full 12Volts to the blower motor. When you have the switch in any other possition, the voltage is routed through the resistor and reduced thus making the motor run slower.

In 2002 Toyota Echo, I need to replace blower motor. There is also a resistor and a ''blower switch'' in a manual, but no explanation of the blower switch. Is this just the 'fan switch' on the dash. ...

blower switch is your fan knob on dash. resistors are located under pass side dash next to blower motor. on alot of cars the blower will work on high speed and not the lower ones- this is a tell tale way to tell the resistor is no good. if this happens again after replacing resistor- ive seen the blower motor shorting out causing the resistor to go bad- then you would have to replace both.(this usually dosnt happen, most often the resistor alone fixes the problem..

Heat & A/C Blower Controls Inop. 2003 Dodge Dakota 6cyl

The resistor will cost you 12 dollars at your local dealership. It's located under the passenger side dash and is very easy to replace. The resistor installed at the factory is defective and the new one from Mopar is the correct resistor. It would be worth you while to replace it now while you're working on the blower motor. The blower should still work on the high setting, even with a bad resistor but, replacing the resistor may fix the problem.

Links show replacement of the resistor and wiring harness. Second link is to RockAuto where you can buy the resistor with a harness.
