Check for one of the door-open switches to be misadjusted. If the door ajar lamp is lit, the remote locking system will not work. Also check that a second key-fob is not inside the car. The smart locking system will not allow you to accidentally lock the key fob inside the car and will cycle the lock back to the unlocked position immediately if the fob is sensed by the inside-the-car sensor(s).

Yes,the lock mechanism has either gone bad and needs replaced or is disconnected from the system.Whether it be accidentally disconnected while repairs being done or wire fell loose, pull the door panel and check it.If connected and has power when checked with a test light,it should work.If has power and no action, replace it.

Check hybrid system light came on on a 2010 prius. Car runs fine.

It's a year old. Take it to the dealer immediately and have it repaired under warrantee. Don't wait too long or they might say further damage was caused because you didn't get it looked at immediately.

Ho do i program a keyless entery remote on 2001 toyota prius.thank you in advance.

Try this:

key not in ignition.
driver door open-others closed
driver door unlocked

1-insert and remove key from ignition two times

2-close and open driver door two times

3-insert and remove key once from ign.

4-close and open drvr door twice

5-insert key into ign.,then close driver door

6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice
this is rewrite mode, have all remotes to reprogram
it will clear any lost remotes.

7-remove key from ignition, the door locks should cycle twice.if not start over.it may take a few tries.

8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second

9-release,and press lock on remote, the door locks will cycle confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have, steps 8 and 9.if only one in possesion, you are done.

to end mode open door or insert key into ig.you can do up to 4 remotes.read this a couple of times to get the sequence down.there are time restraints, but if you go in order it will work.do not wait more than a second b/t each step and you will be ok.i know from experience that you can do this as fast as you can and it will enter mode.if steps out of order or you wait to long it wont.print this and have in lap, read ahead of what you are doing.good luck.

2003 Prius sometimes will not start, engine light comes on. Removing key from ignition, reinserting key, & turning wheel till it locks will then allow the car to start. Engine light stays on for a

I had a wire connector on the front of the engine that had so much tension, the wires broke. I didn't notice until a wet day when the car wouldn't start (and the Check Engine light was on). (The error code was related to an Emissions error.) The connector is located on the engine, front, just left of center. Hope this helps!
