Check light when driving the check light comes up

Valve timing may be off. Check timing marks. Also check transmission fluid level.

What code is it throwing ? Some codes are what are called two trip codes ! You clear the codes an start an drive the vehicle ,no check engine light . Park the vehicle over night an bam next time you start an drive the vehicle the check engine light comes back on .

immediate attention such as a catalyst damaging

misfire.

??A 2 Trip DTC is one that a condition must be found

during 2 consecutive trips such as an EGR fault.

??Most Monitors do not set a DTC and light the MIL

when a vehicle fails a test for the first time during a

DRIVE CYCLE. If a test is failed on a second

consecutive DRIVE CYCLE the MIL will light and a

DTC is stored in the vehicles powertrain control
module (PCM).

The warning light comes on when the alternator is not charging the battery. The alternator would need to be checked when the light is on.

You should not drive a car if the check engine light comes on and you do not know what the problem is. In some cases the check engine light means a serious problem and I know could cost a lot of money to repair. Mine came on and cost $800 dollars to repair as I tried to drive it.

You need to have the cars charging system tested for correct voltage output, low system voltage causes these symptoms and lights. Any Autozone or other discount parts stores do this testing for free.

have a code test done for free at a auto parts store..it may be a O2 sensor causing the light to come on.

This is like a check engine light for your transmission. Something is slipping or out of its values. Get it checked out with a code reader.

when the check engine light comes on,the computer system has picked up a problem. the other lights come on because their systems turn off when the computer finds a fault. once the computer problem is repaired,the other lights should go out.

The EML light will come on if you have an emissions fault , the car may drive ok but you may find you are using more fuel , it would be better to get the problem checked just to be on the safe side , regards mark.

could be a poor ground wire cable or body ground for ecm. Clean battery cables. (check condition of battery. A bad battery (below 9.0v) will cause irratic engine performance. Usually engine will stall. You did not say. check body ground straps. you'll need a digital ohm meter to test further.
