when a motor has been cooked ( run with out water ) the rings loose tension , the pistons score the cylinder walls, the head cracks or warps and the head gasket generally blows. In mechanical circles , your best option is a replacement motor either from an engineering rebuilding shop or a good unit from the wreckers.
this could be a number of problems , firstly with engine running remove radiator cap see if large bubbles of air appear, blown head gasket. second depending how long engine is running before temp rises to overheating, thermostat. third, O2 sensor could be damaged this will cause rough running and slight increase in engine temp.(unlikely if idles well) fourthly damaged valves (inlet/exhaust)
Heat will not hurt the plugs, but it may have hurt something else. Look around for melting ignition wires or anything else too close to the exhaust. Rough idle will usually set the engine light--is it on? If not, check to see if maybe the egr valve is stuck open.
you may want to have a block check done on the cooling system to see if the head gaskets are any good as this can cause the top of the rad to blow off and the rough running and poor idle.
get it hot and leave the hood up,hopefully the heat will dry it out.
NEVER pressure wash a modern car its full of electronics(its like putting a t.v. in the sink.....)
Inspect/replace air filter.
Fill the gas tank to above 3/4 and add Lucas FUELSYSTEM CLEANER.
Ran on the highway for 10+ miles.
Monitor is the rough idle condition is getting worst on below 1/4 tank.
Change fuel filter and check fuel pressure.
Most failing/weak fuel pump will not work well below 1/4 tank mark.
It will fail in a HOT DAY.
it is overheating then?
