Focus That stalls

My 2001 stalls when it is really hot outside, and the fuel is below half tank. It will just loose power and die driving down the road. very annoying. It never happens in the cool weather months.

You need a new fuel pump. There was a program to pay for this for 10 years I think for some 2000-01 Foucs. Here's what the letter from Ford says: December 2003 Program 03N01 "Attached is a letter announcing the details of a no-charge program Ford Motor Company will be conducting concerning your vehicle's fuel pump. We have found some 2000-01 Ford Focus vehicles may experience symptoms of engine hesitation, loss of power, surging and other similar symptoms ...... as a rsult of progressive contamination of the fuel pump filters." (in the fuel pump). You may reduce the liklihood of the symptoms occurring by kee[ing the tank at least half full. My recollection is the program was good for 10 years. Ask your local Ford Dealer if your car is eligible for this program.

There also was a follow up letter from Ford that said the program was good for 10 years unlimited mileage from the warranty start date. So, you should be covered for a free fuel pump. The dealer can run your 17 digit VIN number in their computer to verify coverage on your car.
I used to be a Ford service rep so I know how the system works. Call any Ford dealer with your VIN number and ask them to check if you are eligible for "ONP 03N01"

Also, don't forget to give me a hig rating if this solves your issue. Thanks.

Have your evaporative emission control system check to make sure your purge valve and purge solenoid working.controlling fuel vapors.if not it will cause stalling.also have charcoal canister check to make sure its not full of gas.

make sure have to make sure fuel lines heat shields has not been removed.because i remember old school back when you had a hot day your fuel lines under hood get hot causing vapor lock.it was on carburators cars back then but fuel injection engines get vapor lock also.

My 2001 ford focus dies with 1/4 tank of fuel

Your problem is the pump pick up in the tank is either broken or it has been bent up at some time, and it should be almost touching the bottom and yours would be about 2or3" up so when its still 1/4 full you cannot pick it up .
So take out the pump and fix the problem, or take into the garage and tell them what to do ..
NOT unless you have a faulty gauge sitting on 1/4 and it is EMPTY.
But thats one of the two problems it can be .. Have a goodday Ron

Fuel pump

Change the fuel filter AGAIN, except this time I would remove fuel tank and inspect for dirt in tank. Filters will constantly clog unless the source of the dirt is removed . Fuel filters do not heat up, When the engine "dies" snd restarts in PARK., it's because the fuel pressure, and the CLOG was relieved temporarily when it stalled . Hope this helps
