Recently went through the standard battery and alternator replacement due to the car losing electrical power while driving. found a bad grounding wire on the alternator and fixed, and all other wires including the exciter wire looked good. the car has driven for over a week just fine but died recently when i had to use the lights. I have no idea what could be wrong now
I'm having the same problem on a 2001 Nissan Sentra. I removed the alternator and had it tested and it passed three bench tests. After doing some research on the internet, I think the problem lies with the plastic connector on the alternator from the wiring harness. I may try hard wiring (soldering) the wires directly to the blades on the alternator.
Possibly a bad fuse which is not allowing the power from your new alternator to make it back to the battery. Do you have alternator voltage making it to the battery when running?

are you sure the alternator is good? because it could be tricky ...The only other thing is the wire running back to battery pack to charge battery maybe disconnected

Checked Every fuse in the fuse box (no small task). This includes #4 - Power point Instrument Panel, #14 - Day time running lamps (auto lamps doesn't work nor does auto lock), #27 - ignition switch run feed, #35 - Instrument Cluster, #41 - Instrument Cluster, #42 - Delayed Accessory, #45 - Ignition switch run/start feed, #102 - Door locks body security module, #103 - Ignition switch, #110 - Ignition switch, & #116 - Ignition switch. But I also check all other ones as well, they all register OK. AC panel & radio work. Turn signals work. Mileage does not work, trip computer does. So, basically, everything works except auto head-lights, auto locks, and the dash cluster (no MPH, RPM, mileage display, Fuel, Temp, Tran Temp, and Oil Pressure).

it sounds like you have blown fuse to the Alternator.. I don't know what car you are talking about but they charging systems vary.. But if alternator isn't getting all the power it needs it won't charge. this should be checked.
good luck

the alternator gets power on big wire battery voltage the wire runs to starter, fuse box .alternator fuse goes to automatic shut down relay to relay control in ecm/pcm the field wire comes from ecm /pcm to alt.other field goes back to automatic shut down relay back to charge battery . if not charging at alt. try new alt. and retest.

With the computers and complicated circuitry in newer model cars, jumping is not a good idea. Not only can you cause damage to your battery and fuses but you can fry entire electrical systems. Try checking fuses first. Then relays and wires. If your lucky, it didn't fry the computer.
