Theory of operation. The bcm monitors the headlamp switch to know what is going on, the bcm then sends voltage to fog lamps, when activated. At the fog lamps two wire connector, the black wire is ground, the other wire is voltage comes from bcm. You can use test light to check voltage and ground with fog lamps turned on. There are codes for fog lamp, the two that I noticed, shorted to voltage or shorted to ground, these are B type codes, manufacturer specific. Check the codes.
I saw two 40 amp fuses going to bcm, those fuses are hot all the time. No specific fog lamp fuse because the voltage comes from bcm. Hope this helps a little. I can only help with testing.
That is the battery drain tube , there should be a plastic elbow eather on the end of tube or on the battery , attach it to the battery it should be ok .
may be the fog lights are the problem if moving that switch makes it work. If you have fog lights wired through the head light relay then the over load system is cutting in the same as if you had a short. For maximum benefit from the use of fog lights they should only be used on their own and never in conjunction with other lights (road authority legal requirement) . They should be mounted as low down as possible and their intended design is to shine under the fog cloud ( in the free fog zone -fog is always about 12 inches clear of the ground) and not be refracted back by the fog. If other lights are on at the same time all you see is a white blankness.
check remote batteries for replacement. they may be dead as for the door locks and trunk. as for the fog light, parking brakes situation a short would make them not work. not stay on. the electrical would be fused for that. a short prevents electric from getting to the load or device. i would not think that fog lights would be linked to parking brakes. did you mean parking brake light? the fog lights should be on a switch by themselves or connected to main headlamps
Hello! Accidental short on the cigar lighter or a failure? If it was a failure has the cigar lighter socket been replaced and is OK? If the failure or accidental short on the cigar lighter happened when the fog lamps were on current back fed through the Fog Lamp Relay and may have damaged its contacts...Question then becomes; Is the fog lamp fuse (FOG LPS 15 A) OK...it is in the under hood fuse block..Have you checked the fog lps fuse? if it is good and fog lamps do not come on replace the Fog Lamp Relay (under hood fuse/relay block) Guru...saailer
On a 2004 CLK430 the alarm siren is located on the drivers side by the fog light and you have to take out the fog light cover in order to see it. I'm not sure if it's in the same location on the 320 or not, but it's worth checking out.
Check the fog lights for water intrusion, this will cause a short, also look at the wiring where it goes to the fog lights, look for worn wires where it runs through the body of the car, I know the short is one of these things, have seen it before.
hi disconnect your fog light switch if this doesn,t knock them off you need to find the fog lights relay and replace it as the fog light circuit is shorted best of luck yates210456
