Trouble code 00P38 on a 2004 dodge 2500

The check engine light is on and the scanner shows a trouble code of 00P38. The truck seems to be running fine. Can you tell me what this code means?

First im going to assume the code is p0038 HO2S Heater Control Circuit High (Bank 1 Sensor 2) the after catalytic converter oxygen sensor in bank 1 is probably starting to fail or there is a problem with the cat itself hope this helps stephen

Bank 1 sensor 2. Oxygen sensor heater control circuit high. You can try disconnecting at connector to sensor, clean connection good, disconnect battery for a minute or so & retry. If it comes back, I'd look at replacing heater solenoid.

I have a 2001 Dodge Cummins 2500. When I Turn on the lights, the engine dies. It's showing codes 1693,1694, and 1689.

Hi.

First of all most of the codes you posted are companion codes (OEM if I remember), I would check with some OBDII scanner for the generic codes (For instance : P0447) first then I can give you a hand. That way I can direct my diagnosis on the correct circuit or component.

Mil light, OBD system 11,

The engine computer has detected a fault in one of the engine sensors or controllers or switches that it controls. The fault is what trips the light to on, and sets a trouble code in its memory. To get the code, you have to hook up an OBD-II code reader or scanner. When the mil light stays on, it means the fault is still present.
Temperature change should have no effect on the computer or its engine management. Occasionally, computers have been known to set false codes, but rarely. Have the computer scanned to see what trouble codes you get.

Reset check engine light

The lught can be reset with an OBDII scanner. Most auto parts places like Advance or Autozone will read and clear the code for free.

2000 isuzu rodeo check engine light flashes when at or around 2500 rpm and up. engine runs smooth and no codes come up ? light goes out when rpm is reduced.

are you checking code with a small simple scanner this will not always work, a larger more sophisticated unit may find code or runs codes at over 2500 rpms when light comes on

Dodge 2500 it seems backfire and misses.

Some of the things that I would consider are a plugged PCV valve, a vacuum leak, a cracked distributor cap, or a faulty voltage regulator. I would also check the condition of the ignition coil. And even though the check engine light is not on, I would have the vehicle scanned to see if any fault code(s) are stored in the computer. (Never trust a light to not be out)Hope this helped and good luck.

if u had the engine runnig while u filled the tank? if so u have triggered the evaporative emissions system to set a code and turn on the check engine light, go to Kragen and have them run the trouble code test, then ask if they could clear the code for u, it is free..
