The vac modulator only assists the transmission in knowing when to shift up.
If the engine oil pressure gauge is acting wildly, it could be the sensor or the oil pressure could really be going up and down.

SOURCE: Trans clunking when slowing down

Sounds like youi may have a few serious problems going on to have that kind of back lash occuring at higher speeds. I have experiance with low spped clunks on Bronkos and your type of vech being a car dealer. One you might try for low speed clunk on take off and braking at stop likts just completeing a stop? Pull the drive shaft and lubricate the splin - two check your leaf springs for weakness and wore bushings - take a look at your shocks - three u bolts holding springs to rear axle housing may be letting the axle housing actually dip or tweak or all those thing in combination - now you may have some serious slop in the pig - transfer case may be causing that clunk - as far as high spped clunk and activity you have a serous problem and you just might drop the transferr case have an accident fliping over..............Mike South Bend Indiana don't just keep driving and making problem worst...........

SOURCE: engine revs remain high or increase when braking

Have you tried checking your throttle positioning sensor. Possible vacuum leak or check for carbon build up in the throttle body not letting the throttle valve shut all the way.

2004 jeep liberty won't move when put in gear (like brakes are locked).crank it in neutral put in gear it will go till i touch brakes then won't move again.WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS THING.

gear, is this a Manual trans? or AUTO you said gear.
what gear, please name the gear, 1,2,3,4,5 R
or PRNDL ( a/t box auto matic) what shift lever selection?
what is out door air temp, you do know brakes can get wet and freeze right?
it wont go you meant? until brakes are touched, key word won't?

ok engine only starts in PRNDL set to N??
is that it?
and then when you shift to D, the car will not move
what about the other gears.? try them all yet?

my guess (wild) is that you dont know how park lock out works.?
that you must hold the brake pedal down to shift to park or neutral.
is that it? (read operators guide?)

my guess is car is not drive-able. key point1 (a dead car)
point 2, engine starts and runs. and races on demand with gas foot.
point 3, im lost. (no trans stated or clear symptoms.)

my jeep has 6speed manual box
and the clutch allows me to start car.
on Automatics trans must be in park or neutral to crank engine.

"it will go till i touch brakes"

I read that 10 times,
my 2nd guess. the engine stalls ?

IS THAT IT, stalls means engine RPM is 0
and right foot actions are dead.
and all dash lamps glow, telling you STALL is now.

My car will start but when I push on gas the Rpms will rise but the car won't accelerate and will not move at all

What kind of car you have would be helpful. Running it with a bad water pump could cause more damage then you have now.

Ford aerostar troubleshooting

It could be any number of things, most likely cause is you have a oil sending unit that is wore out and giving false readings. Either buy a new sending unit and change it out or hook an oil pressure tester to your engine and check the oil pressure.
I'd buy a new sensor and replace it myself, because the vehicle is 23 years old and probably the original sending unit, besides the oil sending unit has to be removed in order to check pressure with mechanical gauge anyway.

I have 2002 Isuzu trooper 4X4, on a dashboard 2 lights are on, Engine Check and CHECK TRANS blinking every 2 seconds. Car itself operates very well, shifts gears etc. when I drive around town it works...

Have you checked for Diagnostic Fault Codes yet? Have your local auto parts store check for codes if you don't have access to a code reader. New Bluetooth OBD readers (ELM327) that pairs with your smartphone or laptop and a free app. (Called "Torque") Great reader for under $20 in most cases. Start there first. Is there a Temp Gauge for coolant? If so.......what is the operating temp doing during those highway trips? If the coolant is overheating, it may be heating the transmission too.
1. Check for codes.
2. Have cooling system checked, cleaned, flushed, and new coolant installed.

Oil light flickers when it warms up, when your stopped.

The flickering light usually indicates low oil pressure particularly at idle.Check oil quantity. How long since serviced and filter replaced. If these all good have your oil pressure tested with a master gauge. Some issues can be oil pickup slugged up or if high miler engine bearings.

The A/T oil temp gauge, the emergency brake light, the radio flickered, and the panel lights were dim or flickering... as I was climbing a hill the car sputtered with gas in it. The thermostat did not...

seems like you need an alternator try charging your battery star the engine and take off negative cable if engine dies it's your alternator. did you have an alternator light on in the dash
