My rx8 has been given me serious problems. It started to lose power at the top end, so i put in for a service and when it came back it would hardly move will only do 60 mph took it back to the dealer and the did some diagnostics and said it was probably coils. I have just put a new set of uprated coils on tonight and nothing has changed it struggles to rev to 4000 RPM and does't sound very healthy. Dealer also said it need a new cat and lambda sensor but am not going to fork out for those if they are not going to solve the problem. I have some new uprated plugs and HT leads which i am going to fit tomorrow but im pretty sure there not going to help. anyone had a similar problem or got any ideas.
Thanks Greg
Change the mass air flow meter first.
Hello greg
Did you have any joy with your Mazda. I have an RX8 on an 04 but only done 37,000 miles and sounds the same problem. Spitting and spluttering below 4000 revs. I have just come back from the dealer and they have tried many different things in an effort to fix it but due to lack of compression they think it needs a new engine. We are waiting to hear from Mazda what the position is on this. I would be pleased to hear from you to compare notes. you can contact me on [email protected]

That might be worth a shot am i right in suggesting that if the MAF is the problem then if i disconnect it the car should run slightly better thus diagnosing the problem without having to get another MAF first.
