Mazda rx8 engine trouble

My rx8 has been given me serious problems. It started to lose power at the top end, so i put in for a service and when it came back it would hardly move will only do 60 mph took it back to the dealer and the did some diagnostics and said it was probably coils. I have just put a new set of uprated coils on tonight and nothing has changed it struggles to rev to 4000 RPM and does't sound very healthy. Dealer also said it need a new cat and lambda sensor but am not going to fork out for those if they are not going to solve the problem. I have some new uprated plugs and HT leads which i am going to fit tomorrow but im pretty sure there not going to help. anyone had a similar problem or got any ideas.
Thanks Greg

That might be worth a shot am i right in suggesting that if the MAF is the problem then if i disconnect it the car should run slightly better thus diagnosing the problem without having to get another MAF first.

Hello greg
Did you have any joy with your Mazda. I have an RX8 on an 04 but only done 37,000 miles and sounds the same problem. Spitting and spluttering below 4000 revs. I have just come back from the dealer and they have tried many different things in an effort to fix it but due to lack of compression they think it needs a new engine. We are waiting to hear from Mazda what the position is on this. I would be pleased to hear from you to compare notes. you can contact me on [email protected]

2004 Mazda RX-8. How do I fix my car and could you send a engine manual for my 2004 rx8.

Question edited for full 'year make model' in that order.
Question moved to correct category.

Service manual in the link, but for your electrical problem, you will need a mobile auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to diagnose the issue.

I have a 2004 Mazda RX8. When I start the car, the power steering light is coming on sometimes and I lose power steering. It will stay on for the entire trip.

The power steering system needs to be scanned for fault codes like steering angle sensor and other sensors in the system.

How do I fix the power steering n my mazda rx8 04?

My RX8 had the same problem. First, change your battery cable ends. On the Positive cable there is a white wire that powers the power steering. It probably has a bad connection at the battery post. I cut the end off my rx8 and just put a regular battery cable end on it and my problem was solved.

How do you change spark plugs on mazda rx8 2006 model?

In all seriousness, remove the rightside (from the front) road-wheel (jack the car, of course) - drivers front wheel in a LHD car, passenger's in a RHD car.

At the back of the wheel arch is a flexible flap - unclip / move / remove this, and you have good access to the plugs (remember, these are mounted on the side of the engine on a RX8 / Renesis rotary engine).

13/16" socket to remove the spark plugs; There's 4, in total, in 2 pairs (yes, 2 different types of plugs).

Smear a little anti-seize on the threads of the new plugs and insert by hand and tighten in accordance with the instructions on the plugs (e.g. NKG = hand-tighten, then spanner 1/2 turn)

2004 Mazda RX8 Power Steering not working and light on.

I would check your power steering fluid level first. If it's full your power steering pump is bad.
