There should be a master link in the wiring from the battery. These wires are like fuses and melt to prevent further damage. You have a problem somewhere if this broke.

Assuming the battery is charged, you would first need to find out why it won't crank. I would use a meter or test light to check for power at the starter.
Once you get it to crank you would need to figure out if you are lacking fuel to the injectors or spark to the plugs to proceed.

sounds like fuel pump is going. should be 40 psi after fuel filter on driver side firewall.

If it cuts out while climbing it's most likely a fuel filter or a fuel pump that is no longer able to supply enough fuel while you're climbing, which is when you use the most fuel.

Sounds like there is a load of dirty fuel in that gas tank. Ran good for a while after changing fuel filter, then began to run poorly again. Remove fuel tank, drain and clean out, replace fuel filter AGAIN. That should cure it. Hope this helps

If you haven't changed spark plug wires, do so. If you have, then check your timing / timing chain and check for vacuum leaks, or your egr. Good luck! let me know how it goes.
