SOURCE: driver's side door latch wont open door from inside

Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register (vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you'll have access to technical information (manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc) about your vehicle.

I have a 1999 mustang, the driver side door was fine then all of a sudden would not stay shut. the door latch won't latch. could this be a electrical problem? it has electric locks

probably that the latch is in the first lock position preventing it from locking properly
use a round bladed screw driver , place it under the latch and press the door button and the same time pulling the latch out

The driver door on my 2010 Volkswagen Passat Sedan Komfort doesn't always latch shut.

The latch sounds like it could use wd40 or some kind of lubercant and have the pin checked to see if there is any ware on it, if there is then you may need new hinges and a pin for the latch.

The driver side door on my 2002 chevy blazer wont close.how do i fix it?

Door pins are a common failure on that series of Blazer/S10's. Also, another point of contention that the door faces is a sticky latch. Basically, the door latch re-latches itself and when you shut the door into the catch, it slams into it and bounces off. An easy fix is a 3 part cocktail of brake parts cleaner. Open and shut the latch with a screw driver acting as the catch and your interior door handle a few times. P'Blaster, open and shut the door a few times with the screwdriver acting as the catch. Finally, a good shot of white lithium grease. Open and shut the door with a screwdriver as the catch several times. Once you feel it is un-stuck, actually close and open the door several times. If you notice the door rising every time it catches, you MUST replace the door pins (cheap fix). If the door still has issues, replace the door latch (and since you're in there, do some PM and replace the actuator as well).

I have a 98 jeep grand cherokee, and my driver side door lock is in the lock position and I can not shut my door. How do I release the lock?

Have you tried unlocking it with the key? If that does not work, try moving the latch with a scredriver, back into the open position. If the latch has broken internally you will need to remove the inner door panel and remove the latch assembly for visual inspection and replacement. You can get another latch at just about any scrapyard and key will not need to be changed to do this.

slide the rubber boot up and check the wires in the hinge of the doors. I will bet anything that the wires are broken. that was what was wrong with mine. just splice them back together and everything should work fine.

Door wont shut

When the door was last Opened the latch must have caught on something and went to the Closed Position. Get a Pair of Pliers and on the Door Where the Latch is Pull it Back Down or Up whichever way that it goes. All makes are Different with This.
