SOURCE: truck wont crank. we have

you said you repl dist cap that means you don't have a crank sensor you have electronic ing module. remove your elec ing module have it tested most auto parts stores could test your module, or check your coil at the neg terminal. should have power. if not you lost your primary volt from your batt.your secondary power is coming from your electronic ing module from the module to the pos terminal on the coil, when the eng cranks, from the coil to the dist cap , from the dist cap center to the rotor then out to the plugs, this all happen pervided the timing belt or timing chain is ok. the cumbustion chainber needs 3 things , thats fuel, air, and spark.

Car wont start turns over but wont ignight have changed coil and coil lead checked fuel pump but still wont run

Change distributor, rotor, plugs and wires. Make sure you have pushed coil wire on tight on both ends. Also when did you last change the air filter? Motor needs enough air to mix with gas in cylinders to fire.

Why can't I get fire through the distributor on my 1991 GMC Sonoma 4.3?

I have seen the coil on that motor get damaged from the rotor. Also you need to check for runout in the rotor shaft. I have also see the ground fail on the ECM and cause this.

No spark wont start

The coil in the distributor is THE coil. Try replacing that coil.

Ford 1981 f 150 not running changed Coil distributor cap Roar arm plug wires did not help started bur ran extremely rough then died

motors need 3 things to run properly. gas spark and compression. the starting point. also spark timing.
the motor you are dealing with is easy. i just rebult a 1978. anyways sounds like a timing problem . first i would check the distributer. if all is ok spay a squirt of starting fluid in the air filter, or even wd40.,,,,,,,see if it is gasoline problem. isolate where the problem is.

I have a 84 camaro with hei distributor motor is a 69 camaro 350 i keep melting the wires on the coil put new coil in car runs good for an hour or so then gets warm and melts wires and stall also did new...

HEI distributor and burning coils,it in you connection first make sure you install primary and secondary prorperly as it comes out of the cap , and inside the cap wire from modules dont make contact if you are burning its from primary circuit, this is the (B+) or (battery most likely), your secondary is your tach and that need to switch from postitive to negative for it to create spark obvously if tach was grounded or applied power you wont start, but there are times the condensor in the distributor does stays fixed and shorts out the coil (replace that condensor its for suppression) when the condensor is replaced run a fused direct wire at B+ (from ignition) run the vehicle and monitor the tach wire and check to see if that get hot

Ignition Distributor location

There is no cap and rotor, as the vehicles igntion system is DIS (digital ignition system). The recommended tune-up on these motors require sparkplug and coil replacement. The coil type in this vehicle is COPs (coil over plugs). Usually moist and oxidation develope on the sparkplug chamber walls from faulty or worn coil boots. This causes the coil to short, they must be replaced at 75,000 miles at the same time the sparkplugs are replaced. Typical symtoms are: Vehicle stalls (restarts and runs normal), intermitted jerks/sputter while driving, misfires, rough idle, severe power loss. Hopefully this helps

Motor stalls when driving then starts and stalls right away.

Replace the distributor's magnetic pickup located inside the distributor surrounding the distributor shaft, the only other thing thankfully on this ignition system if memory serves me on the f 150 straight six 300 cu inch is the dura spark ignition control box, of course do the obvious tune up parts replacement dist.cap rotor, plug , sparkplugs before spending the $40.00 - $50.00 bucks on the dist.. pick up, you may have a weak a fuel pump check for adequate fuel pressure at carb 7 - 10 lbs.
