'96 stuck in 4W drive. Can I electrically fool the tranny back to 2W drive with jumper wire?

Tranny switch broke and is out of dash. Can I use a jumper wire to get the tranny back to 2W drive? If so, which two wires should be jumped?

SOURCE: wont shift to over drive

The reason it won't shift is because that plug isn't plugged in. It goes to the overdrive solenoid and the lock-up converter solenoid. I can likely tell you how to adapt it to make it work. What year is the transmission and what did it come out of? I know they are both A4LD transmissions but I can remember what year Ford changed the A4LD from the two wire connector to the three wire.

SOURCE: 96 Cavalier gurgling noise and a little hard to start

to check level of training fluid warm car up and while engine is running check the dipstick to see if the fluid level is at the top of the area on the stick where the criss cross grooves are, it should say hot or full note wipe stick off at first pull out then recheck it after placing it back in and pulling it back out.
First was the spark plugs set right ?
and the gurgling noise could be a sign that the thermostat is sticking and its most likely the radiator fluid boiling back into the over flow tank if you pop the hood does it stink like radiator fluid and is the over flow tank boiling ?

SOURCE: leaking tranny fluid, automatic 96 jetta gls,

actually, mk3 vw's with auto transmissions cant just be topped off. you have to have it done by a certified tech, or if your mechanically inclined, you can buy a kit to do it. but, the problem is, there are magnetic shavings inside and when you flush it, you may or may not flush them with it, which in turn could be worse.

Mitsubishi galant viento 96 auto trans looses drive over approx 2000rpm

Have the tranny oil level checked first off.. Next have the tranny pressures checked as it appears that you are not getting sufficient pressure to hold the gears. May need a tranny adjustment in the bands and clutches in the box

Probably broke your U-Joints on your driveshaft, preventing the rear wheels from turning. Your driveshaft might have disengaged from your differential too. check underneath concentrating on the driveshaft and differential

My 2002 GMC ENVOY SLT is stuck in reverse and I can't get it start or move out of reverse. Is this an electrical problem?

If its stuck in reverse then it wont start, this could be a bad tranny or the shift cable broke or came loose, theres a braket under the dash that holds the shift cable before it connects to the shifter linkage arm and that braket sometimes gets loosened up and the other problem is the shifter tube may have broken. a good way to see if its the tranny or the shifter asm is to get under the truck make sure to block wheels and put e-brake on. dissconnect linkage at the tranny and move the selecter arm on the tranny, if it in reverse then it should move o click in one direction which is park and the other way is into neutral then drive and so on, try to get it into park and seeif truck starts, if it does then its not the tranyy but rather it the shifter, another thing before doing that have someone turn key on but dont try to start it just move the shifter and se if it moves the arm on the trany, you will see this from under the side of truck on driverside. good day.

The transfer case is computer controlled. The only way to give you a definative answer for your question is to scan your Powertrain Control Module for fault codes and perform a system check while monitoring transfer case input/output data to see if the computer is recieving the signal from the selector switch. On most GM vehicles, if there is a malfunction with ANY PART

1991 Ford F150 Jumps out of 4W drive sometimes in reverse

My 94 did the same thing. In a automatic, you have to come to a full stop, it usually grinds when in 4L ,And for the shifter, I had to look at mine, 2w is all the way forward to the dash, then 4H is toward you 1 click, and "N" is the next toward you, then 4L , you have to push the lever down and pull backwards. Always come to a full stop when changing gears and wait a few seconds before changing direction.
