Creaking sound from front passenger side of VW Polo 2003

Hi,

I have recently bought a '53' plate three door VW Polo, which only has 18,500 miles.

Whenever I go over any bumps I can hear a ceaking noise coming from the front passenger side. More so when I go over speed humps. My girlfriend describes it as a creaking and slight grinding noise. It doesn't feel like the steering or ride of the vehicle is affected at all.

When I had my vehicle MOT'd they said that the bush had slight movement and a slight tear in it. However my mechanic said that it wouldn't affect the vehicle and wouldn't cause the noise. He also told me that the noise might go away when I drive it more, as it may have been sitting around not being driven for a while.

I thought I'd try yourselves before I take it to a VW dealer. I hope you can help.

Many thanks

The most common problem is the anti roll bar .where the bushes clamp around the bar there is a piece of plastic that the bush clamps around, the plastic breaks and can fall out .or the bushes that you describe are also common as a cause of noise or broken front springs .it will be one of them for sure.cheers

That noise sounds to me like a Ball Joint problem. I would check to see if you have fittings to grease the front suspention.

Good luck, Allen

Hi i have a vw polo 2003 1.2, basically before i

that's...thirty liters or so?...10.4 liters per hundred. I'm getting 30 UK MPG...that sounds rather low for a 1.2 . it should be getting 35-40, I believe. better get yourself a tuneup if you can afford it.

VW Polo 2001 - Electric Windows wont open from Drivers side..

I removed all 3 switches from driver and passenger door, which is really easy with a flat head screw driver. took them completely apart, very carefully, with a small screwdriver out of a christmas cracker. put them back together again and 2 switches started working, so I put 1 in the drivers side and 1 in the passengers side so now my drivers door window opens and I lean over to open the passenger door. cool, no money spent...yet ;o)
