What to do if the ABS light comes on and stays onl

Usually indicates a problem in the ABS. Take it to get looked at if you want it fixed. If its faulty you risk your breaks locking up. Ive been driving with my ABS and trac off light on for over a year, but Id still get it fixed if i could.

Faulty power steering rack and pinion or low on power steering fluid causing the whining noise.Tire wear on the outside is usally worn out tie rod ends or front end. out of alinement. As for the ABS and trac light you will need to have the computer scaned.Could be faulty wheel speed sensor.

Get the codes. This will help in getting to the root of the problem. If you want you can jack the car up and check the scraping noise in the front tires. You could have a bad hub bearing.Getting the codes will help determine what side.

"Chk Trac light" on 2000 Lincoln Town Car

MAKE SURE TIRES ARE ALL THE SAME SIZE FIRST OF ALL,NEXT MAY HAVE A SPEED SENSOR NOT OPERATING PROPERLY OR BENT OR MISSING EXCITER RING ON FRONT HUB OR REAR AXLE. EITHER WAY THERE IS AN ABS FAULT OR A DIFFERENCE IN WHEELSPEED ON ONE OF THE FOUR WHEELS CAUSING TRAC LIGHT TO ILLUM. VEHICLE THINKS YOU ARE LOSING TRACTION AND APPLYING ABS AND MISFIRING VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN UNTIL TRACTION IS RECOVERED

Tires

When both of these lights are on you should suspect a wheel sensor. Check the sensor at each wheel (look for small 2-wire plug). Make sure each one is securely plugged in and no wires are broken or bare. Also make sure no sensor has been damaged. Dealt with same issue with one yesterday and it had a sensor left unplugged after wheel service.

Antilock light is on and trac light is on sound

You have a bad hub bearing. 100% garunteed. The light is on because the bearing is so bad it hit the sensor for the abs & traction control , breaking it. So you're gonna need a bearing, a sensor, probably new brake pads, any seals{probably one} & a shop that can do it. The bearing is pressed in & needs to be pressed out. Heating & beating is not a good idea.

2005 impala

All the hubs on the car have the abs sensor built into the hub. The abs system has to be re set to read the sensor . The rear hub bearing if noisy should be replaced. There are wiring harnesses that connect to the abs sensor. The harnesses to each of the abs sensor should be replaced.

2001 Impala No trac and ABS light on. Is this a dangerous problem?? Will the brakes stop working, or will it be ok until I can get it serviced?

In the hub-bearing assembly (the part that the tire bolts on to and allows with tire to spin) there are sensors, they can and do fail. Also the wiring and connections can fail also. The only consequences of this problem being not fixed is that the ABS will not work (the breaks won't "pulse" when you start to skid) but you will still have breaks they will just work like regular conventional breaks that can lock the wheels, like in the cars of yore. Traction control will not work either, neither are serious but annoying. And the obvious the "service traction system" message will come up in the info box, the "traction off" light will be on and the "abs" light will be on. My dad's 02 impala has the same problem. A gm computer scanner can diagnose where the culprit lies. Good luck -Mike
