I did my spark plugs and i crossed wired it on my 1990 oldsmobile silhouette how do i put the wires back correctly the car wont start
Andersonltam: OOPS! Don'tfeel bad it's a common problem. First we have to get you oriented in front of the vehicle and give you some reference points so that we are talking apples and apples OK?
Standing directly in front of you vehicle, hood up and looking at the motor, the engine sits "Transversely" (SIDE WAYS") HMM they keep doing that!
Starting with the cylinders on the front side of the motor closest to the radiator, they are
numbered as followed. To your left is #2 cylinder, the center is # 4 and the right is # 6
So the layout is even on one side and odd on the other.
On the back side you have the same configuration: # 1 cylinder is to your left, # 3 is in the center and # 5 is on the right.

(1) (3) (5)

to #1 cyl > 1 3 <(Dist cap)
6 4

( 2) (4) (6)

This illustration was a close as I could get using what I had, but I think you have a 99.9%
chance of figuring it out...... If you don't I'll be watching... Let me know how I did......
Sorry about the illustration, It didn't all come out as it had been drawn .
HOWEVER, (1) (3) (5)
(2) (4) (6) are correct!
The distributor is laid out to where it is located os the back side of the motor, between the # 6 and #5
cylinders splitting the "V" You have 6 wires which plug into 6 spots in the top of the distributor cap.
The # 1 location is closest to the intake manifold (dead center, not close to # 5 or close to # 6)
The other terminals the wires plug into aren't as close to the intake manifold.
So, starting with connecting the # 1 wire to the Distributor cap at the location I described and to the # 1 cylinder as laid out in my diagram, the firing order is 1 2 3 4 5 6... the distributor rotor turns in a clockwise direction. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this revision won't be distorted when I post it...HERE GOES!
