Rfw lock light will not go off - Cars & Trucks

If the RFW lock light is stuck on in Your Ford Ranger that means that the differential locker is not working properly. The system is operated by a vacuum line and that is the most common problem. If this vacuum line becomes loose or damaged it may lead to Your diff locker being stuck engaged. A rear differential locker is used in Your truck to lock the rear axle and make both wheels turn while You drive. This can be very useful when You have limited traction like in snowy or off road conditions. This system engages using vacuum pressure when it detects that one wheel is slipping so that it can give power to both wheels.

Rfw little what ?

Mostly this is caused by uneven tire ware , Jack up one wheel the wheel will spin half a turn or more as the transmission is under tension .you will now be able to move the selector.

That means you 4X4 is active when you start the car, nothing wrong with that. If you don't need it or want to save money, just turn it off as you're doing.

Could be short in your alternator have it tested,or your battery start cheap.

need to reprogram ignition key security system when battery disconnected. turn ignition key to the on position for 3 to 10 seconds until the lock light goes out then start vechicle.if lock light dont turn off turn ignition switch to on position 30 seconds until lock light turn off.
