Holden Viva My car sound like a diesel

Hi Jason sorry but the information you have supplied gives me very little to go on. Has this issue just appeared? (1) check oil level correct if low (2) does the oil run off the dipstick or drip off when removed.If it runs off it may require an oil change.If the kilometers are really high use a thicker grade oil.15/40 fit new oil filter. Check if oil is contaminated, if water oil filler and oil will look creamy. If fuel you will smell petrol in oil. Both these issues require fixing 1st before an oil change. It may be an engine fault if all the above is ok and will require a mechanical repair by a mechanic.

What milage is a cam belt change toyota avensis tourer 1.8 petrol 2007 model

Toyota recommend a belt change at 100.000klms (75.000miles) under normal driving conditions Less if constant high speed is the normal drive cycle. I recommend that when changing the belt that all oil seals be replaced along with all idler pulleys and hydraulic adjusters. The reason is simple --Oil is the biggest destroyer of belts and any oil leaks or potential oil leaks are best fixed when the belt is off. Pulley bearings are at their useful life when the belt is due for a change so replacing them and the oil seals means another full period of service.l

04 freelander oil light coming on checked oil and it's full what next

Have an oil pressure test done. That requires a mechanical oil pressure gauge attached to engine. These are notorious for oil pump wearing out due to improper oil change techniques. Attached is note from Rover service manual;

Oil filter renewal

NOTE: To avoid draining the oil pump, it is essential that the engine is filled with oil to the correct level, before the filter is removed. It is therefore recommended that the engine oil is renewed before work on the filter commences.

Just bought my 1998 XK8. Engine sounds great but no record of changing the timing chian tentioner. Should I worry? Also thecruse control is no longer operating is it simple to fix? L yes can the telephone...

if it sounds ok then leave it alone ,change oil every 6000m and oil filter every third oil change and use the cheapest oil for a diesel/petrol you can find so engine stays clean and it will last forever ,cruise ?well this could be anything so ask a local mechanic to have a look for you ,as for the phone well sometimes your better off without the thing .

1991 freelander stalling

on the inlet manifold is a breather from the engine i think on this year so check for a split vacumn hose or a split breather pipe ,failing which it could be the thingy on the back end of the butterfly ,their is a sensor but iam pretty sure its a breather pipe or something stupid ,also pull the vac pipe out of the servo and just try pùtting a plug into pipe in case the servo diaphram has split

My volvo v70 has failed the french mot test due to high emissions ; the cat con is only 2 years old ; what is the best way to approach this prob

CHANGE THE OIL TO TOP QUALITY OIL THEN CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS TO BETTER SPARK MOST PROBABLY IRIDIUM THEN CHANGE THE AIR FILTER TO A BMG AIR FILTER (THIS AIR FILTER DOESNT EVER NEED CHANGING) THEN FILL THE PETROL (IF IT NOT DIESEL) WITH HIGH OCTANE (98ron) AND ADD RACING OCTANE BOOST TO THE PETROL TANK AND THAT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND YOUR CAR WILL GO A HELL OF ALOT BETTER YOULL SAVE ON FUEL ALSO THE IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS DONT HAVE TO BE CHANGED FOR AT LEAST 100.000KLM HOPFULLY THE PETROL AND MORE AIR GOING IN WILL HELP

Where is the fuel filter as I am servicing my 1999 freelander and need to change the fuel filter

Lefthand side of the engine compartment bulkhead, if its a diesel, beneath the rear seat, (fold down), remove inspection panel, and remove pump, filter is inside, for petrol.
