Oh yes the beutifull old granade as i call it just a little humor. but i am willing to bet that you need your carburator rebuilt. because after all the years of patroleum going threw it. will cause some of the seals and gaskets just to rott. and sometimes they will let air in through them wich will not allow it to function right but the next time it could have a tiny little bit of dirt that seals that tiny crack and you will idle just fine.

Why wont my 2001 sport trac idle

Most likely due to a dirty/ faulty idle air control valve. If it is all gummy inside, the valve can’t open or close properly to maintain idle. This is usually mounted on the intake manifold near, or directly on the throttle plate area. Be advised that if you replace it, the first time you start it after replacing the engine may rev up to around 4,000 rpm until the computer kicks in to bring the valve closed, usually takes about 10 seconds.

Wont idle right (sometimes wont start unless put gas in the throttle bottle). Transmission wont shift until get rpm s high. All this happened after removing and installing engine again.

make sure all vacuum lines are connected properly and there are no pinched fuel or air lines. Also make sure all electrical connectors are properly installed.

Ranger8+ diesel will not weld or generate.

Check for proper placement of all springs & linkage on carb / throttle. One of those springs and/or linkage pieces is largely responsible for idling UP the engine so that it will be able to operate the welder & generator. If it won't idle up, it won't work right.

Sounds like the Throttle Position sensor or the Idle Air Control Valve causing the issue

If the RPM's fluxuates at an idle at all times you have a bad spark plug or a bad spark plug wire
