SOURCE: 2003 vw jetta tdi fuel filter

It is on the passenger side right behind the washer fluid fill tube. You can follow the fuel lines (look like 1/4" black tubes, some are clear) from the injector pump to it. It is a caniser a bit bigger than a normal looking oil filter and sits between the washer bottle and the metal that forms the wheel well. It is held in by a screw type clamp about half way down the cylinder. Probably isn't the fuel filter unless there is air in the lines to the injector pump or they didn't bother to fill the fuel filter up with diesel after putting it in. There is not a fuel pump in the tank in these cars so everything is sucked up by the injector pump and it needs to be primed properly.

SOURCE: I have a miss in my 2003 F250 super duty, replaced

I would say to replace the sensor and see if it helps. I assume you had the truck scanned and that was the only problem. The speed sensors usually relate to the ABS and Transmission shift points.

Both Autozone and Oreillys will scan for FREE. After you replace the sensor, get a water spray bottle and go around all the seams you can find on the engine while it is running. If the RPM changes you have found the vacuum leak that is causing the miss.

There is also another test that can be done electrically. It is the cylinder balance test. This directly relates to the compression of each cylinder.
While all the Diagnostics that showed the fault are accurate, the onboard computer does not tell everything.

Usually it can miss the mechanical issues like a vacuum leak, or a bad valve in a cylinder that is firing good electrically without the whole bank running rich with the unburned fuel from that one cylinder. This is because it averages the total burn rate for each bank.

On the V8 engines there are cavities below the Airhorn for EGR flow. If your V10 is similar you may want to look under the Airhorn gasket and clean the cavities. It should only cost your time and a gasket.

Desiel injector pump is failing to open the nozzles in the combustion chamber

Hi the only way the injectors would fail to open is iof you have low pump pressure. check the fuel filters first. replace them if you have not done so before. There should be a water trap filter and then a fine filter, replace both. They should be replace at a regular service intervals.

Have 2006 f350 desiel. driving home and check engine light came on. Went out next morning and truck wont start.

Fuel pressure good battery is good make sure the positive part of the batery post has good connection, a good indication of hard to start is glowplug relay you should hear the clicking of that relay when you turn the key on. The FICA has alot of problems with no start and so does the ICP. You need the scan tool data stream to track this down for a no start.

Driving truck it shut off will not start

Never use starting fluid on an engine with glow-plugs. You could cause alot of damage. Many problem areas of this engine can cause the concern you have. Probably the only one you could fix yourself is to replace the fuel filter if it is clogged. I only recommend to use a Motorcraft filter because it has the best rubber seal to prevent leaking.

I have 2003 f350 super duty hickups when driving down the road

Okay, Thanks.

The diesel engine runs on air and fuel. The hick up is from air getting into the system. The injection timing is off. or the fuel injection pump is starting to go. The fuel pump in the tank should be okay because you are getting fuel up to the filter replaced in the engine. I would have the fuel injection pump pressure checked. IF the fuel pressure is good then I would check the fuel injectors and the linkage. The slightest leak in the fuel system from an o ring or filter makes all the difference in the world.

Good luck
