No, thats not true. Theres no real difference in fuel octane.Sounds like you have a leak at the gas tank some where or the fill tube from the gas cap to the tank is crack , loose or not on right..Hope this helps you and have a great day....

I think you have a rusting fuel filler pipe.
Call Mercury dealer with your 17 digit VIN number and ask for any open recalls. They never expire and are repaired free.

I HAVE A 1995 CHEVROLET CAPRICE CLASSIC, UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE OF CAR IT SMELL OF GAS FUMES.

Gasoline or exhaust fumes? If exhaust, you have a leak. If gasoline smell, tank may be over full and vent may be clogged.

Strong gasoline fumes when vehicle is parked, what causes this?

first of course is to look for leaks second, get the emissions and recirculation canister and related stuff looked at..be careful here because this could ultimately explode in the garage..park it outide if nessecary...and dont overfill the cars' tank,, too many people do this and get fuel inside all the overflow tubes..not a good thing.. fill until the hose turns off once and stop....good luck...

Gas smell inside a car

I purchased a 93 Villager in 1999 and it developed a gasoline smell inside. The problem was the fuel filler hose / pipe that was covered by a manufacturer's recall. It was repaired by the Mercury dealer at no cost to me. You should contact the local Mercury dealer. This year Villager also had a problem with the crankshaft breaking, although they never had a recall for that problem, the crankshaft diameter was increased for the 94 and newer models.

1995 Mercury Villager shots down when i step on the break.

Be sure to ALWAYS have more than 1/4 of gasoline in your tank, this may be caused when having it below that. Also having less than 1/4 could damage your fuel pump wich is an expensive part, so it's good on taking care of it.
