1987 MAZDA RX7

MY MAZDA TURNS OVER BUT DOESNT STAY OVER. IT WILL DIE AND 1500 RPM. IDK WHY AND ITS STARTING TO GET TO ME BAD. SO CAN U HELP ME OUT? ATF trick worked.... Thanks, BUT
Engine ran for about 5 min. Smoked cleared and started idling for a while.
then engine would rev up and down from 1000 to 1500 rpm.....
All was looking good...oil presure, Temp and alternator charge.
After letting run for the time mention, I tried to put it in drive and then as it went into gear the engine idle down and stalled after 2 to 3 seconds.
Tried to start agian but no luck.....
First thanks for the ATF trick...car I believed hasn't run in 3 to 4 years.
Ran smooth except for the reving up thing.
1. Should I do the ATF trick agian to get it started?
2. the idle screw on top of the throttle intake, can I turn it to turn down the idle
3. Does this defenitly mean I have a compression problem or that the seal could have beendried out from sitting for the past 3-4 years.

1. im not sure what the ATF trick is 2. yes that is correct 3. no theres a few different things it could be. it most certanly could be though. it doesnt take long for a rotary engine to get messed up if its sitting. take it to a mechanic to get a compresion test that will help you determine whats up.

I have a rx7 series 5 13 B turbo motor the car starts and runs really well but once the car warms up its starts smoking and increases then after driving it the smoke starts to die down alot

The side seals for the rotors are bad. the only thing you can do is pull the engine apart and replace the seals IF the side housings are good. If they are bad, you cant machine them, they are JUNK. Find a shop that rebuilds Mazda Rotary engines. Mazda may be the best place to get a reman engine.

When I try starting my 1987 Mazda rx7 it clicks

Check the battery, have a load test done on the battery, and check the connections at the battery and the battery post, make sure they are shiny clean, then of course check the alternator,to make sure it is charging enough,13.65 volts to 14.25 volts, any less replace the alternator,If all this checks out good, replace the starter.

90 rx7 turns over but will not start

it could be many things, no fire or no fuel, replaceing your spark plugs is most likely the leats expensive thing to do and if that doesnt work then there is most likley a problem with the fuel either too much or not enough. rx7s are notorious for flooding and it doesnt take much.

1987 MAZDA RX7

If it's over 170K it might just be super low compression that's the culprit. To find out I'll teach you the rotary engine mechanics secret weapon. Take out both the trailing plugs their the T1, and T2 plugs respectively. Now turn the engine by hand slowly watching the spark plug holes when you see an apex seal go by squirt a little transmission fluid into the plug hole, about 3 cap fulls is usually good enough. do this for both rotors remember there's 3 sides to each of them. Now just to be sure take the leading plugs out and spray them with carb cleaner to be sure they fire the first time around. Put all the plugs in their correct places, check the wires to be sure the leading coils and trailing coils are connected to the proper plugs. Then crank it over! If it runs like a brand new engine then its just worn out apex/side seals. This trick is also a great way to get rid of the carbon build up on the faces of your rotors. Hope that helps!
