It could be, but I do not have a fast tool to check codes. I already checked oil level. As Guru and familiar with similar problems, could have given a more detailed explanation in layman terms. When that light flashes there is a dtc stored.. itflashes to let you know an error occurred with the transmission.. could be as easy as low fluid level..it needs to be scanned for codes to be properly diagnosed
often it is a detected difference between shaft speeds at certain points in the transmission, often indicating excessive slippage of the OD band or elsewhere...the computer can signal us when they don't match up as expected by setting a code often it is a detected difference between shaft speeds at certain points in the transmission, often indicating excessive slippage of the OD band or elsewhere...the computer can signal us when they don't match up as expected by setting a code

in radio mode, A./m and F/m
and what about other modes. Cassette, CDDA disc? all crackle
if only radio, then connect a test antenna to the radio
solved?>
if not the radio is bad, or DC power to the radio is bad.
cuts out, does that mean, just the sound dies in all modes. (left and right speakers)
or the sound and even the dial lights and station tune data is dead too.
a bad ground somewhere. Could be shot speakers as well....the crackling is sometimes mistaken for poor radio reception, try a CD, see if you still get it.
when you lose the cluster and radio and temperature control and headlights, I would suspect a short in the wiring harness. If you hear a crackling sound and smell burning plastic this could be the issue. This is not my forte, but I have seen this before in trailblazers and bravada models.
First Visually check all your fuses. Does rig have amp for stereo by any chance? It sounds like amp is bad and/or fuse is blown. Amp is wired between radio and speakers, and a shorted amp would make crackling in speakers when radio is OFF
Are your speakers factory? Sometimes the wires start corroding from moistures or from not being covered well. If you can or know someone who can, you may try checking the wires to the speakers/radio. If they are corroding, they may be shorting out.
I had the same problem, the main plug in the back of the radio does not seat correctly, you have to buy the radio removal tools which are four "keys" you pop into the four corner slots of the radio, pull out the radio, unclip the main wire plug and re-clip it in... it'll work fine, however, its happened to me about 3 times in the 6 years I've owned the car, so keep those keys handy. Oh, and don't believe any dealer that'll tell you different, my dealer told me I needed a new $500 radio, and the radio removal tools were like $300.... I got them for like $20 on ebay.
