if it's the return hose, you can just cut out the bad part and replace it with rubber hose and clamps.

SOURCE: where is the power steering hose? on a 2001 pontiac montana

The power steering hose comes off of the power steering pump, and goes to your rack & pinion, as well as to the power steering fluid reservoir.

My 2005 Pontiac makes a hissing noise when I turn the wheel all the way to the left or right what could cause this problem

It could be air in the power steering system. Check the power steering reservoir to ensure it is properly serviced. If it is, check for any evidence of leaking under the car - power steering fluid is usually either clear or reddish color.
If you have to add fluid to get the reservoir back up to the correct level, it will take a little while to get air out of the system, so the hissing may continue for a period of time.

Air is leaking under dash hit the brakes heard a pop now car starts, but wont idle no brakes

The vacuum hose on the power brake booster (right behind the master cylinder), (where you put the brake fluid) has probably popped off or cracked. If so you will hear a hissing noise & have a loss of power brakes. Either reinstall the hose if possible or replace it if it is damaged. Good Luck Frank M

My 1992 Jeep wrangler has a hissing noise coming from the back of the steering column and is having trouble shifting

Normally a hissing noise when the engine is running is a vac leak.
I'm not aware of anything behind the speedo that would be affected but you might check for vac hoses. Might be the power brake booster leaking vac but that is in the engine compartment.

My temperature gauge is showing that my engine is overheating yet I have plenty of coolant and oil. When I arrive at my destination I hear this hissing noise from underneath. My engine will also slow down...

The hissing sound is escaping coolant steam. You probably have a cracked radiator or a hole in a lower radiator hose. You also risk SEVERE and VERY EXPENSIVE DAMAGE to the engine if you keep driving it.

Please, have the car towed to the nearest garage to get it properly diagnosed and fixed.

My steering has gone hard only when turning there was a sudden hissing noise what could this be hope you can help dum blonde

are you leaking power steering fluid? is there any left in the car? normally all you have for power steering is a pump with fluid and an assist ram, if you hear hissing my guess would be that you blew the High end hose in the system, if it happened while driving with little turning such as freeway driving, you wouldn't notice until you got off and were driving slower and making more turns,, check your fluid, if its empty filling it won't do much good until the hose is replaced, but don't drive to many miles as it will end up burning out the pump

Makes noises steering, just sounds like some old person moaning when steering, also from the rear I hear a wierd noise almost like a leaky exhaust when I hit the gas I hear a hissing whining noise those...

sounds like it may have an exhaust leak, rusted pipe or gasket that has rotted out, lift car off ground and look at the exhaust system and the power steering may be low on fluid. Hope this answered you questions.

Engine is making hissing sound.

That hissing could be a vaccuum system leak, have youe tried pinpointing the sound from under the hood?
