SOURCE: idle at 1500 to 2000 rpm

Most likely the throttle body gasket (between the throttle body and the intake manifold) is leaking.

SOURCE: engine stalls after cold start-up & release from high speed idle

I had a similar problem.  I found the filter cartridge below the pcv valve had carboned up, and after the crank case pressurized, oil was forced out the pcv supply line to the throttle body.  The idle air control valve solenoid got oil in it and caused my problem, but only when it was cold.  The pcv cartridge is accessed by removing the pcv valve and the rubber fitting that the pcv valve mounts in.  It can then be fished out with a pick set, and it is a pain because you can't see it, but you can get you hand back there.  I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: 02 Grand Cherokee High RPM start. Cuts out when driving

Ckean throttle plate inside throttle body...They tend to get dirtier than their counterparts in carbureted engines due to lack of fuel spray that kept them clean. If no luck with that, clean idle air control valve on TB. When doing this, don't turn the plunger, just clean with carb spray and replace. do not loose "o" ring seal.
Good luck

SOURCE: engine starts, reaches high rpm, then slowly returns

Vacuum leaks. Check all hoses and intake bolts. Leaking EGR or plugged PCV valve. Air filter plugged. Leaking head gasket. Worn timing chain. Camshaft lobes worn. Valves burned or leaking. Fuel idle control system or sensor. Good luck!

run the fault codes as the engine idle is being affected by a faulty sensor . The vibrations are probably because the idle rpm's are too low.

Rev count for 2009 corolla pro. goes up when engine starts even when the car is not moving. Is that normal?

High idle indicates that the engine most likely has a vacuum leak. This could be due to many causes; cracked hose or hoses, bad gaskets..ect. Hard to say exactly without more info, but you can open the hood and inspect the vacuum lines for damage or cracks. It is a 2009, so it probably is not something major.

When the engine is started in a cold environment ( Canadian winter) there is a loud rattling noise. This noise disappears once the engine in warmed up. There is a corresponding high idle ( 1800 RPM) until...

it is probly your valve train starving for oil.I would try using a thinner oil in the winter time or just switch over to a full synthetic oil this should help.Once you switch to full synthetic oil though it is recomended to stay with it it is not good to go back and forth from synthetic to regular oil.
