SOURCE: ford auto locking hubs

you can convert auto to manual hubs warn hubs or milemarker makes good hubs. As far as lift a suspension lift is better. This really depends on what you want to do with truck. I had a 97 f250 diesel 4x4 and put front leving springs on it and new poly spring bushings and was able to clear 35" tires on factory wheels. The best exhaust upgrade is going to be a new down pipe from turbo to exhaust as far as straight pipe or muffler it depends on personal preference

SOURCE: frt lock out hubs inop

A snap ring holds the lock assembly. Get a set of snap ring pliers to help remove them. Then remove the caliper and disc , There should be 4 bolts on the back to remove. Then it should just comes right off.. Be careful it is quite heavy. Check for an ABS sensor wire if equipped. And vacuum hoses on hub .

SOURCE: climate control is on defrost only the auto

Check your vacuum pump located on the right side fenderwell. see if its running. Check the vacuum hose at the hubs for leaks or damage. repair if damaged. check for other vacuum leaks such as the grey hose going to the heater control valve.

My 7.3 liter will not shift on the fly into 4X4 low. I can manually lock the hubs, the left manual hub is very hard to turn, and can't tell if it is in high or low as there are no marking on the hubs and...

hub locks are worn out, especially if you cant turn them. And its not high and low. Its either auto?lock for switch style shift, or free /lock for old style floor shift. also hub seals could be worn or vacuum system not working.
