I replaced my handbrake cables & rear brake calipers but now one side works properly However the other side holds when handbrake is released & doesn't hold when it's applied. 1999 acura integra GS.

Hi. Your adjustment on rear brake indside rotor if off on one side. Pool both rotors out and you will see the distances in between the hand brake pads are different. Masure it and adjust it. Hand brakes are mechanical no hydraulics so it must be your adjustment

I broke the hand brake sprocket on passenger side rear can I put car back together with out it until one turns up

You can put it back together but the handbrake will not work properly! You need both sprockets to give an even handbrake cable pull on the brakes!

How do I fixed if my car hand brake stuck 2001 toyota coralla manual

There are several things that can make a hand brake stick on. It possible the cable attached to the leaver has come off it guide. There is a cable running from each rear wheel to the handbrake leaver , a inner cable running through a outer housing , chick that the inner cable is free to move back and forward . if all the cables are free to slide adjust the rear brakes and hand brake as instructions . Slacken off the hand brake cable adjustment. Jack up the rear wheals and adjust the brake shoes till the brakes lock, then back off till the wheels are free to turn. Then pull the hand brake leaver on two clicks and adjust the hand brake cable till the rear wheels just start to bind, release the hand brake leaver and check the wheels are free to turn.

Locking brake on the rear passenger side!

Its probably the rubber hose that goes between the metal break line and the caliper. That hose is like a 2 way valve that lets fluid into the caliper when brakes are applied and lets fluid back out when brakes are released. These hoses deteriorate and stop letting fluid back out causing the brake to stay tight against rotor.

Rear brakes over heating

u have a defective ABS hydraulic control valve, this is an active control system and it can apply pressure regardless of pedal input from the driver, the problem is a tiny hydraulic pressure valve is leaking and applying that brake piston.

Adjust handbrake on nissan terrano

On the inboard side of the rear wheel hubs, you will find an oval rubber plug, pry this plug out, to gain access to the brake adjuster.
Pull the handbrake up two clicks.
Jack and support. Remove the rear wheel, and adjust the brake using a screw driver levered through the slot to turn the notched wheel of the adjuster, until the hub starts to drag when rotated by hand. Repeat for the other side. Note the ratchet mechanism on the adjuster will only let it turn one way.

Toyota Celica 1994 Driver side rear handbrake sticking in reverse

Yes, the brake shoe clearance has to be set at the minimum and the brake edges should be chamfered (angled) where it contacts metal in either direction, the shoes get hung in reverse if they are loose because of the movement of the entire brake assy, and they kind of get cocked & locked until you apply the brake. Once the brakes are adjusted correctly, there is no room for them to lock.

Try & pull up a hair on the handbrake lightly when this happens & it should remove the bind by centering the shoes within the drum.

Minimum brake clearance is the cure. Sometiimes if parts aren't replaced, the fit isn't perfect due to the lip remaining which prevents intalling the part at minimum clearance.

good luck

Rear r/h drumbrake grabbing

Could be cable from handbrake seized/stuck on, or adjustment needs backing off, or wheel cylinder or axle seal leak. Drum will have to come off to verify, which may be hard to get off because it's too tight. If you can spin wheel by hand, you might be o.k. to get drum off.

Were do you adjust handbrake crv r/h drive 2003

dear in most cases it will be very hard to reach adjuster but there is another way to get ur hand brake better

required tools

1- lift jack "big one"
2- proper wrench
3- car supports for safety
4- screw driver

now u have to do the following:-

1- lift up the car from the rear middle but be sure it is in NORMAL gear and hand brake is down
supports for front tires is highly recommended
2- remove both of your rear wheels put wheels under the car as if suddenly car fall it will fall on tires and nothing bad will happen
3- put car supports and both sides of rear Axle for more safety
4- now u can see your brake discs, near center of brake discs u will find a removable knob remove it by screw driver and see in side u will see the hand brake clutch push it by ur screw driver towards the center of the wheel until the maximum u can get
5- repeat last step for the other brake disc
6- restore the knob push it hard using screw driver
7- fix ur tires back, remove supports, lower the car and u r as good as new

hope this will help

regards
