Check your fuel filter for clogging and/or have fuel pump pressure checked..Am assuming it's fuel injection,if so have injectors checked/cleaned..if a carb system you may need a cleaning, carb rebuild or simply air/fuel adjustment.
Remote possibility of electrical issue,I've seen this happen as early signs of coil or coil pack going bad

I have a 96 Old Ciera, feels like it's bucking/surging. More like hesitation while idling or driving. Has stalled a few times at stop signs, etc. Mechanic hooked up to computer, says bad egr and oxygen...

Had a similar problem that also caused the power brakes not to function. I believe there was a problem in the vacum fittings that was causing it to lose power but I am clearly not an expert.

96 Suburban v8/7.4L/454 K2500, Knocking Noise??

sound like an internal engine problem. either one or more of the pistons has "piston slap" and that knocking will diminish as the engine warms up or possibly a rod bearing is worn out. have a tech do a manual oil pressure test to make sure the oil pump and main bearings are ok. piston slap or knock that decreases when the engine warms up is not that serious, but a rod bearing knock or possible oil pump failure should be taken care of asap.

Hesitation while exceleration

Have these things checked for #1:
Spark plug
plug wire
#1 fuel injector
and the throttle position sensor, also have a fuel pressure test done, especially for the hesitation.
