I need the wire from the antenna to the radio. Is it special? What is involved?

The antenna cable is invariably a coaxial type screened cable to reduce interference. There is a centre core carrying the signal and an outer braided conductor surrounding the centre.

The antenna cable is sometimes in assembly with the antenna and sometimes separate - in the case of a separate cable it will be terminated at each end with a suitable connector - one end to fit the radio and the other to fit the aerial, usually retained by a threaded outer nut.
The cable, if separate, is semi universal and so could be bought as a spare part for the vehicle or as an accessory.

Replacing or fitting is usually far from simple or easy...

Am works on radio but fm does not

FM requires a good antenna connection. Check the connection at both ends, and check for any damage to the antenna cable. If you have the rear mounted power antenna, the cable runs forward under the carpet to the dash.

If the antenna is good, then the FM section of the radio has failed.

Antenna

The only reason to have an electrical wire going to the antenna is for a motor that raises and lowers the antenna. The antenna cable to the radio is the only wire on the antenna.
To replace the antenna, you have to remove it from where it connects onto the car, then lift it out from there. The antenna and the cable cannot be separated, it's all one piece. You pull the cable off of the back of radio, and tie a strong string onto it, because when you lift out the antenna, the cable will be pulled out from under the dash and to wherever the antenna is situated and out that hole. Now tie the string onto (hope you had a long string, lol) the end of the cable on your new antenna and cable, and stick the end of the cable into the antenna mounting hole. Pull the string from under the dash by the radio and you will bring the cable back into the dash and where you can plug it into the old radio and listen to good old music again !

Broke my antenna for my Uniden bear tracker bct2 what can i use to replace it ?

The BCT-2 uses your car FM antenna ! Or go to Radio Shack or a wrecking yard and just buy a used FM antenna ! Be sure to get the whole thing including the antenna lead with the factory end ! Don't Cut The Antenna Lead !

The hood latch cable broke under the hood how can i open it

Saturn Vue hood release can be opened (if the cable is not broken) by disconnecting the cable from the back of the release lever, grabbing the ball on the end of the cable with some large pliers ("channel locks") and pulling hard. A metal "wire keeper" bracket clamped to the cable end under the hood to serve as a spacer and the release lever works.
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide a procedure for opening the hood on the Saturn VUE and ION vehicles should the hood latch release cable mechanism become inoperative.

VUE Hood Opening Procedure Modify the Saturn radio antenna by bending the antenna mast 1 in. (2.54 cm) above the antenna base to a 25 degree angle

Open hood of similar vehicle to locate hood latch release cable to hood latch attachment point.

Using modified antenna, note approximate location that antenna will have to enter in between fascia and hood to access the hood latch cable attachment point. This should be toward the left edge of the Saturn emblem. Also note position of the modified antenna base. It should be angled downward.

Note: Use protective tape on the hood and fascia where the antenna will be inserted to protect the surfaces from scratches
On vehicle with inoperative latch, insert antenna between hood and fascia and depress the hood latch cable until the hood is opened.

Good luck and thank you for using fixya

Power antenna broke and I need to replace it. How

Buy replacement antenna mast. Remove old one by unscrewing the retaining cap nut. Turn on the radio & let the antenna cable run all the way up while you pull on it to remove it.
Install the new antenna mast by turning the radio 'off' so the spool inside goes back to its beginning while you feed the cable of the new antenna down into the antenna mast hole.
Once the cable is all the way down, reinstall the retaining nut/cap and turn on the radio to allow the spool to run the antenna 'UP.'... cycle the radio ON and then OFF several times allowing the antenna to move all the way up and all the way down.
That's it!

No radio

Your radio is most likely shot because if your antenna is not hooked up you will still have radio channels and time displace come up on your radio. If your antenna is broke then you will have to repair it to.

Fm stereo

FM radio reception relies on a very good working antenna and cable, AM reception much less so. Unfortunately, the problem could be in the radio itself as there are separate signal processors in it for FM and AM. However, the most common problem is a bad cable connection at the antenna or the radio, or a bad cable itself (corroded, pinched, broken wire inside).
.
A couple of simple things to check: if the antenna is in the window, it may have become disconnected from the cable at the window. If the antenna is body mounted, could be a bad cable connection at the base of the antenna, and in this case, the base of the antenna could be very corroded.

You could also check the antenna cable from end to end using a continuity checker. If you can't figure that out, you could just try replacing the cable (or body mounted antenna in that case).
