Hi there:
Normally the sulfur smell comes from the catalytic converter make sure the vehicle is running properly and not missfiring or running rough. Try cleaning the Mass airflow sensor heated wire if it is causing the vehicle to run rich it will start emitting different smells. Check for any debris that could be melted on the exhaust system and is burning off like a plastic bag.

You may have plugged catalytic converters.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

There are a few things to check, first make sure all sparkplugs ,plug wires are good, in other words make sure engine is running smooth, a misfire will cause the smell and stalling so make sure tune up is not the problem first.

The next thing to check would be make sure air filter is good and throttle body is clean.clean the plate and body around the plate, the oxygen sensor can also cause this problem and is often forgotten about, the last would be the idle air control valve that control idle , there are more things that can cause your problem but start with these.

The most common problem may be as simple as the coolant temp sensor, this sensor if giving the computer a false signal with wrong coolant temp then this will cause this problem also.

A scan tool or multi- meter would help in testing the coolant temp sensor. hope this is helpful, good day.

SOURCE: is it true that ford escape's catalytic converter

no a dealer is not the only place that replaces these; you can do it yourself and there should be 2 of them. most of them are replaced with aftermarket ones. go to a muffler shop and they will replace them for you and you can check at an Autozone or Napa for the catalytic converters

SOURCE: Catalytic converter shot

3 front coils? Ignition coils? If the engine had a miss for a long time the excess fuel can ruin a catalytic converter.

SOURCE: 2005 Ford Focus flex pipe repair

Advance auto and auto zone sell just the flex pipe. You will need to have someone cut the old one out and weld the new one in. costs about $20 for part vs $300 for pipew/catalitic converter attached.

I have a 12 tundra TRD..I just pulled in and I could smell that sulfur smell coming from my fan and the fan keeps running...after I shut the engine off..where do I start

The fan will continue to run until the coolant sensor reaches a predetermined point. The sulfur smell should be from the catalytic converter.

What would be causing what sulfur smelling exhaust smoke?

The Smell is-- Sulfur Dioxide-- from an over heated
Exhaust Converter

Yes-- it will be ruined soon

White Smoke all the time, could be a head gasket

It could also be-- lots of fuel-- that is overheating the converter

Have to look at fuel trim on scan tool data

Engine stalling

The sulfur smell is usually low grade gas or a problem with the catalytic converter.
In your case I would go for bad gas, especially if the problem just started happening recently. You can try adding premium to the tank and drive it out. You may have to replace the fuel filter once or twice if the gas has water or other contamination.

Engine jerks, then smooths out, runs rough, misses, smells like sulfur, loss of power

sounds like a restricted catalytic converter. you must, however find out why it got restricted, or it will happen again, from the sulphur smell, i suspect engine is running rich. you need a pro to help you with this problem.

2004 ranger 3.0L starts but idles rough then stalls. Problems started with major loss of power with a hi pitched whistling and strong exhaust smells.

I suspect you have plugged catalytic converter - hence the whistle. If you hook up a vacuum gauge to the intake manifold vacuum port, it will be low, like around 10 when it shoul dbe 17 incehs of vacuum.
Was you check engine light flashing? If so, too much raw fuel getting in converter overheating it.

I have a 2002 Chevy Tracker with a sulfur smell. It passed the e test and has no engine codes. It is worse climbing hills but has no power loss.

Hydrogen sulfide in the exhaust, which is produced by trace amounts of sulfur in gasoline. It's supposed to be converted to sulfur dioxide in your catalytic converter.

This may be indicative of a fuel-injection problem, and can be cured by a sharp mechanic.

But often it means a failed catalytic converter.
