97 lincoln town car will not stay running

The car will start, but not stay running. i can press the accelerator after staring the engine and it will run at high idle speed with smell of gasoline. as soon a i let off the accelerator, the engine stops.

My 97 lincoln town car does the same thing unless i crank it up and let it run for 5 minutes or so

mine dose the same thing but now the battery light is on. might need a tune up.

pcms would have to be flashed since wouldn't be compatible and if think fuel pump problem test it before changing components and pray it might work

1999 Lincoln town car will crank but won't stay running. The car goes dead when you take your foot off the accelerator like you shut the key off.

Could be dirty/stuck idle air control motor.

You need to do several things

Is the battery in good shape & have over 12.5 volts
Do you have fuel pressure at the motor key on engine off
Do you have spark or injector pulse when cranking

'92 Lincoln town car wont accelerate it will run

Please remove the acceleration parts and clean it and fix those again, which may solve your problem. The problem might be block in the valves or any damage parts. Please check once, clean it and replace if any parts damaged and try driving.

My 1995 Lincoln Town Car starts when it wants to

The next time your Town Car fails to start, Try holding the throttle open slightly and cranking the engine. If it starts and will stay running while holding the throttle, it is likely that the Idle Air Control valve will need replaced. The valve is bolted to the upper intake right behind the throttle body.
