Starter Bolt Size

I need the correct size of the Starter Bolts on my 1993 Dodge Dakota.. It has 3.9, V-6 Magnum engine. One bolt has fallen out and the other is loose. Does anyone know what Metric size is required? I was told that I could purchase the bolts at Auto Zone... All replies will be appreciated!

You can buy them at autozone, they may even know what size you need. usually starter bolts are the same size and in some cases just the length is different. simply try the one you have in the other hole and if it works then problem solved on the size but the length may still be different.

SOURCE: threads stripped.

It is an odd size, I believe 9mm thread and Heli-coil makes a kit just for this job. I know because I have the kit at work! Try another Autozone or ask to speak to the manager and have him look it up, it does exist for sure. This is actually a pretty common problem. If you're still stuck tomorrow and I will dig up the part number and post it.

Starter will not stay tight, chevy 350

It sounds like the bolt holes may be stripped. Try and put the bolts in without the starter use new bolts and try to pull them out by hand. If you can not it is possible they may be only partly stripped and need the threads cleaned up. Make sure you use the proper size tap. If you still have problems you may need to drill out the bad bolt hole or holes one size larger and re-tap the holes one size larger. This is a big job and you will need larger bolts as well. Depending on the room you have to work with you may have to pull the engine to do a good job. good luck.

How to install a crankshaft sensor on 1993 dodge dakato

just replaced mine last weekend on a buick park avenue. on the buick it was located behind the pulley on the bottom of the engine. take off the belt or beltsand remove the bottom pulley there should be one big bolt in the middle of the pulley.mine was a 24 mm bolt make sure you use the correct size socket and don't stripp-out that bolt. you might need a piece of chain or somebody else to help so the engine doesn't just turn and get you nowhere.after you get the bolt loose you will need to pull the pulley off with a special tool. you might be able to rent one at autozone or another automotive store. there might be a plastic cover but thats all.sounds simple but it took me a day and a half in 105 degree weather

Hello Friend, I have a Dodge Caravan 1997 and in the process of changing out my water pump and timing belt. I am in the stage where I need to open the damper harmonic bolt. Which direction does this bolt...

I have managed to open the harmonic damper bolt. This bolt opens in the counter clockwise rotation. A breaker bar was used with the flywheel locked in place. In order to get to the flywheel, the starter motor was removed to get access. The manual suggest removing the bell housing plate. This takes more effort and one of side engine mount also need removal. I decided to remove the starter motor instead. In order to remove the starter motor, first remove the cables from the starter motor and three mounting bolts. Secure a rod or a screw driver between the flywheel and bell housing through a hole in the flywheel. The size of the size is about 1/2". This hole was visible when the engine is set to TDC (top dead center). There could be more than one hole but I did not try to rotate the engine to find out. Once the rod or the screw driver in place in the flywheel, use the 22mm socket head and breaker bar and undo the harmonic damper bolt counter clockwise (CCW). I believe an impact air gun could do this job as well. The spec on the bolt is 100 ft lbs torque - Hendry

I need replace the window regulator mercedes 190e 2.6 passanger side

so. you must at first remuve panell. one bolt is near dors lock. it turn of with crewdriver. another bolt is near door handle. it turn of with wrench (size=10). now you lift a panef 1-2cintemeters up and it will be remuved. the regulator is fixe 3 bolts (size=10) . so remuve those bolts and then you can remuve the regulator.
