SOURCE: 1997 ford f250 4x4 7.3 liter diesel , intermittant steering problem

Have you checked the U-joints in the front axle for the 4X4? If those U-joints are are tying up they will affect the steering. Good luck!

SOURCE: 1996 right turn is tight

Usually this is from being in a accident but sounds like your rack seals have gone, if it works fine one direction but not the other it's the rack, if it was the pump it wouldn't work well either direction.

Ford torque settings

I am not real familiar with the ford focus C-max but I believe you are asking about the Half shaft. Short drive shaft from the transaxle to tire. these should be marked at the flange on both sides so that when re-install balance is maintained. otherwise loc-tite and as tight as you can get them without stripping them. I always used an 3/8 impact and just ran them in tight

Power steering max

Hi Sherman

You have to do this test to find out why the steering is heavy.
after you check the steering fluid level and top it up if needed.
start the engine let it IDLE try to turn steering and feel how hard or soft is.
Now rev the engine up to 2500 rpm and keep holding the rev. test the steering while you still holdind the rev.
if you feel no difference, the problem is the steering rack it self.
if the steering get softer while you rev up, the problem is the power steering pump.
Good Luck

Nov 1999 jeep grand cherokee (WJ) power steering to the max, either right or left, whines and draws smoke

driver error and nothing wrong with the power steering
the pump only produces pressure when the steering valves are up set and when the amount of turn is reached and the wheel is no further turned ., the pressure equalizes and then drops off until the valves are again upset
when the driver goes to full lock , left or right, and holds it tight against the lock stops, the pump keeps producing pressure until the pressure relief valve is activated
That is the whining sound as the valve vibrates
now the smoke is from the pump drive belt slipping from the extra load of the over pressurized pump
the leak is from the steering hoses starting to fail from the excessive pressure
good drivers with some intelligence goes to the lock stops then backs the wheel of just a bit to release the pressure on the pump
as I said driver error and it is all in the user manual

Hard to turn the steering wheel when making turns and smoke coming from underneath the engine. Making a rubbing sound. Any idea what the problem may be? There is plenty of power steering fluid

check the belt that goes to the Power steering pump, if its tight and not slipping, your pump itself may have gone out, remove the belt and see if there is any play in the pulley as you turn it, and wiggle it side to side and top to bottom

Tight steering

Some power steering systems have a high effort function, a sensor controls output pressure(to the wheels) proportionate to input pressure (steering wheel) You need the Dealer for this one. Safety is a major concern, loss of control hazard is present

I cant find the stick to check power steering levels

If you mean the fluid level in the power steering container ,it's marked on the power steering fluid container under the hood (min - max). There's no stick like the engine oil measuring stick. Keep the level at 'max' and you'll have no problems.

Can someone tell me where the power steering fluid for my 2008 pontiac g6 goes?

This car may have electric steering. If it has hydraulic power steering the reservoir would be on the right side, in the center on the engine on a V-6.

The 4 cylinder has just electric steering and no fluid reservoir.

When I do right turn at low speed when it's raining or it's just wet around, the steering weel goes harden. Usualy it hapens on right turn but sometimes and both sides.

Ok, two issues you should check out. one, check the power steering pump and fluid level. Make sure the power steering pump belt is tight and in good shape. secondly, i would run a check on the entire steering assembly. all linkages and that right wheel hub. there may be some issues with it. the main issue is the power steering pump assembly. make sure theres enough fluid in it.
