Here is a scan of the original article from Popular Electronics, April 1961. Keep scrolling thru to get to the part where he describes adding a tweeter. http://www.scribd.com/doc/101504991/Sweet-16

SOURCE: 2002 Grand am gt monsoon, hook up rear aftermarket speakers

You have to test them, either should work fine (as in use either pair) if that doesn't work connect one pair at a time and listen for the difference, one pair might be for factory midrange and other for tweeter.. there are two different wiring configurations...

SOURCE: Wiring diagram Max 2255 Addzest sound system

BE MORE SPECIFIC!

Why do you need to trace them? Is it a stock amp? If you know where the amp is....then tracing the wiring is a cinch....

The amp has to be powered, so there's most likely a power wire from your battery. If it's a stock amp, it's powered from behind your cd player. And be more specific, what speakers? There's like what, six?

They all go to one spot man, right behind the cd player.

What's spiking? The sound? As in it's loud, quiet, loud, quiet, loud? You might have a bad ground somewhere, so check grounds. Those are easy to find, behind the deck the ground is black. If it's an aftermarket amp, then the ground is going to be close by to it. It's most likely screwed to the steel part of your car.

It could be your deck to, it might have just got randomly defective. You do have a 96 after all.

If it's an aftermarket cd player...check your wiring harness. You have to cut the wires from the car to tie them into the harness for your cd player, so jiggle those around to see if you can hear a difference.

Speaker wiring diagram for a 08 dodge 2500 truck with 7 speaker infinity

Never have found good wiring diagrams for stereo's. Bought them and color codes didn't match. I have mitchell and alldata at work, they don't match. I wire them in with a volt/ohm meter. I find B+, Then hook ignition the the heater control wire. Ohm out the speakers. Thing is, you have infinity. You'll have to find the amp and cut the speaker wires and patch them there also, first. Just a note.. All speaker wires are twisted/paired wires. Cut the tape back 4 to 6 inches to find them. Another note. The speaker wires from the stereo to the amp will be a set of colors. From the amp to the speakers will be different colors.

Fisher amplifier CA 276 fan doesn't kickoff

Check to insure you have properly matched the ohm ratings of the amp with your speakers. If you are running an amp rated for 4 ohms and due to running speakers with a total ohm load of less than the amp will safely handle, it will overheat very quickly...and could eventually burn out. Study speaker ohm ratings on Google as set-ups with multiple speakers have to be calculated correctly when wirired " in a series" or "when wired in parrellel" which are two entirely different formulas. Good Luck

Okay - My car radio/CD player & tweeters are working, BUT the door & rear speakers only work intermittently - Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this myself?

Take off the door panels, and check connection to the speakers, and trace it back through the door wiring and see if there are any breaks or kinks in the wire, or anywhere the outer coating has come off. It sounds like you may have a short in the system, something isnt grounded right. It can be a long, tiring process attempting to find the issue, but it is the only way. Something that would be cheaper than taking it to a dealer would be to find a local stereo store, and either have them trace it for you (they can use an ohmometer to check resistance and connection), or just have them put standard speakers in and possibly a new deck. It is hard to say without having the vehicle, but it is a wiring issue from the sounds of it. Breaks in wires can come from pinching in the body, under seeats, in door panels, or harnesses connecting to the doors.

How to install aftermarket radio in 2009 mazda 6

The smartest thing is spend the money and purchase vechial adapter pigtail made specially for your brand of head unit and presided connector for a easy plug and play, from crutchfield.com. No guess work no schematics or wiring diagrams to follow plug in connector to vehicle harness and back of your aftermarket stereo put the couple plastic pieces of trim and your done. The support side of crutchfield.com is a very good resource. But if you don\'t want to spend the cash for pigtail, you can create account on auto zone.com and go to vehical repair guides and click locations. Why electrical schematics are in the tab labeled, locations, is beyond me. Print it and it will give you the speaker color codes and wire functions with connect pin location numbers. Just remember the industry standard, except for couple exotics, is that first color listed is the main color separated by a /, forward slash, and followed by the color of the strips. And japain cars occasionally use a stopped lines. Same color codes as if solid stripe. Auto zone also has the manufactures service procedure of how to properly remove old stereo unit with out damage. If your car is too new for auto zone listing then I suggest pay $20 to alldatadiy.com as a mechanic the shop pays $1500 a year subscription for alldatapro.com which has all the manufacture procedures, tsb\'s, schematis, and locations, but for twenty a year per vehicle you have access to all the same information as the mechanic in all non dealership associated shops.

When doing wiring always use soldering iron, pencil snapped, not a wiring gun. Gun gets too hot unless your building battery cables. Walmart got one for something like eleven bucks. And use double walled heatshring for 16-22gauge wire. Double wall has heat activated glue that makes water tight seal.any corrosion from water corrosion will be noticed as distortion or noise in stereo system. Are you installing amplifiers or subwoofers? For the pound chest felt thump? Are you using factory speakers? What wattage are speakers? And measure resistance with digital multimeter or use speaker impedence Value. Head units only produce up to a 4 volt constant variable frequency and current to transmit signal. The 50watts x 4 channel is not 50watts per speaker its true my 50 watts peak and 1/2of peak watts of RMS WATTS AT 25. AND DEVIDED BY FOUR SPEAKERS IS TRUELY SOMETHING LIKE 6.5WATTS OR SO. NO IM NOT GRABBING CALCULATOR, 6*4=24 SO A FUZZ OVER. I HAVE FOUR SIX BY NINES RUNNING OFF A 4 CHANNEL 600 WATT RMS 1200 WATT PEAK DUAL MONOBLOCK AMP RUNNING AT 4 OHMS PER SPEAKER WIRED IN PARALLELD EQUALS 2 OHMS OHMS PER BLOCK AND TOTAL OF 4 OHM TOTAL CIRCT LOAD OHM WITH ALL FOUR SPEAKERS USING BOTH BLOCKS. THE 600 WATTS IS RMS OR HALF OF PEAK AND WHILE USING DUAL MOMOBLOCK MEANS ONLY 300 WATTS PER EVERY 2 CHANNELS AT 2 OHMS. BUT IM WIRED AT FOUR OHMS AND OHMS LAW SAYS TO DOUBLE IMPEADANCE OR MEASURED CIRCUT RESISTANCE YOU NEED TO DEVIDE WATTS. SO 150 WATTS PER BLOCK. AND DEVIDE FOR TWO SPEAKERS AND GET 75 WATTS. SPEAKERS ARE RATED AT 90 WATTS, THANKS TO NEWEST 6X8 INCH, YA 8, 4WAY FULL RANGE SPEAKER. 4 WAY MEANS HAS FOUR SPEAKERS BUILT INTO ONE TO PRODUCE FOUR DIFFERECT FREQUENCY RANGES. STAY AWAY FROM COMPONET TYPE SPEAKERS AS YOU,LL HAVE TO MATCH IMPEDENCES, AND WIRE THE THREE OR FOUR SPEAKERS TOGETHER TO MAKE THE ONE FULL RANGE SPEAKER WITH CAPACITORS. AND ... ON AND ON. SO IF USING OEM OR ORIGIONAL MANUFACTIOR EQUIPTMENT, SPEAKERS YOU SHOULD NEED TO KNOW IF THEY ARE COMPONET OR FULL RANGE. AND NEWER CARS HAVE THE AMPLIFIER AND ALL THIS MATH MATCHED TO PROPER RATED SPEAKERS. AAN WELL AS A CFEW YEAR OLD VEHICAL MAY HAVE A 1200 DOLLOR KENWOOD IN IT WITH BUILT IN AMPLIFIERS THAT AFTERMARKET SYSTEMS DO NOT HAVE. BUT NO TAG SAYS THAT. IT\'LL SAY DELPHI FOR CHEVY MOPAR FOR CRYSTLER , MOTORCRAFT FOR FORD, AND SO ON. SO. HOW FAR DEEP DO YOU WANT TO DIVE? THE MONEY SPENT ON CONNECTOR ADPTING HARNESS FROM CRUTCHFIELD MAY HAVE JUST PAID FOR ITS SELF. IN STRESS AND ****** OFF TIME SPENT. AND THEY HAVE GOOD PRICES ON HEAD UNITS, SPEAKERS, DASH ADAPTER KIT, FOR PLASTIC SIZE AND MOUNTS FOR THE DIFFERENT SHAPED UNIT, AND GIVES A DISCOUNT IF YOU BUY THE UNIT AND ADAPTER HARNESS TOGETHER. How do you replace rear speakers in a 2002 Alero?

Put the + from the "sub wire" to the + on your new speaker. Put the - negative from the "tweeter wire", to the Negative of new speaker. Now, take the Neg. from "sub wire", and connect it with Positive from "tweeter wire". This is called wiring in "Series". This keeps the ohm load at a level safe from overheating your speakers. Click this link: http://bcae1.com/ put "series wiring" in a search on that site, and the page will come up that has a picture, as well as info of why you should wire them like that.
