Its not your crank positioning sensor. all the CPS does is control your spark plugs up to around 500 rpms (while trying to start) once started the ECM takes over that function in conjuction with your cam position sensor

Testimonial: "Thanks Josh. So if its not the cps, then what do i need to do?"

SOURCE: Saturn stalling out

sounds like bad spark plug wires. i would recommend changing the plugs and wires - you can usually get the plugs and wires for about 40-60 bucks depending on what quality you get. the problem is that the heat expands the casing on the plug wires and can cause intermittent shorts so that could explain why there is no exact time between occurrences.

SOURCE: Car won't start. Need to locate Crank Sensor. Help!

the crank sensor in under the intake manifold on the back side of the engine. its a little tricky to get to- you almost have to be underneath the car, but it's a simple screw out- screw in procedure.

SOURCE: alternator/selenoid or electrical problem?

When your car is warm, everything is at its maximum expansion. Sounds like an overheating issue. But again I am not there to inspect and diagnose it. It could be several things. Winter driving keeps your engine way cooler than summer heat

After driving a short distance car will not restart. have replaced mas sensor. will not throw a code with mechanic. turns over but does not fire. after about an hour car will restart.

This may be a Crankshaft position sensor. Sometimes what happens with Ford and Oldsmobile is when the engine gets warm the crank position sensor loses its signal therefore not supplying a signal to the coil of coils to fire when they are suppose to.

The engine stops running after 10 minutes of driving

could be a bad crank sensor, a bad crank sensor will let car run for a while then shut down and will not start for 10 to 15 min. and it will repeat this cycle if not fixed.the crankshaft position sensor provides the ignition module and pcm with a crankshaft position signal. the module uses this signal to determine spark for each cylinder. the pcm uses this signal for proper timing of engine.

Camshaft sensor location

The camshaft position sensor is mounted to the top of the timing case cover. The bottom of the sensor is positioned above the camshaft sprocket. The distance between the bottom of the sensor and the camshaft sprocket is critical to the operation of the system. Hope this helped and best wishes.

The crank sensor on the transmission bell housing is known to quit when it gets hot. If the sensor is old, replace it.( the car will restart when the sensor cools down)
