How can I know the cost ? Most is going to be labor, labor rates vary greatly, in Calif it is $120.00 per hour, I wouls think the job in Calif would go for about $400.00

I thionk the THANKS FOR TRYING rating is inappropriate, we do this on our own time for free, just trying to help as much we can, I think the proper thing to do is change the rating to HELPFUL.

Fuel gage not working on a 1998 vw jetta

i believe he means how can he fix the fuel gauge not working problem not the running out of gas. since we already know why that happened (didnt know he was out of gas due to broken fuel gauge) theres only a few things it could be. the gauges power source or ground could be corroded or broken, the guage itself is broken or the sending unit is worn out or the wiring is faulty or broken to it.

I need to know how to reset a gas gauge on 1997 pontiac grand am se

If gas guage is pegged either full or empty, it is most likely a broken wire to sending unit on the top of the tank. If guage reads wrong, like too much or too little is either bad sending unit in tank or bad guage in dash.

Need to know how to sweep or reset gas guage needle

I had the same make and model do this to me the other day. I had to remove the cover around the cluster and remove the clear lens, then move the needle around by hand. Then put is back together. It fixed it but what a pain.

The gas guage and odometer on my 94 mercury cougar dont work. how hard are these problems to fix? would it be something i could possibly do mysef? because i want to learn to fix things on my car myself and...

It is not easy to remove the fuel tank, the guage is inside the fuel tank.. The sensor for the odometer is on the transfer case on the transmission. It may be better to go toprofessional. Good Luck.

1999 Montana gas guage

It is not that hard to replace the sending unit. It is inside the tank and should cost around $75. It would be best to try this when the tank is empty and have someone close by for help. You will need fuel line disconnect tools and basic hand tools. It takes a skilled mechanic about 2 hours. Good Luck .

Gas gauge not working property

Pontiac has a problem with the sender for the fuel guage. A quart of transmission fluid in a full tank of gas usually fixes it. The "engine" light, won't be on because of that. Quite often that is the air filter or fuel cap.
