You need to get it is on a pro grade scan tool computer to diagnose sensor and module issues..

GOLF 2 ONLY FITS THIS MODEL,,,,,,,

VOLKSWAGENS THE 1990 MODELS HAS CIS - E FUEL INJECTION. THE FUEL INJECTORS CONTROLLED BY AIR FLOW SENSOR PLATE REST POSITION INCORRECT. INSPECT AIR FLOW SENSOR PLATE REST POSITION. LOW FUEL PRESURE FROM WEAK PUMP WILL CAUSE FUEL INJECTORS NOT TO WORK.

Check the fuses, I am not sure if the 1990's had a headlight relay or not (My 1987 Cabriolet does not) but if there is a head light relay its by the battery, if there is one, put your ear down by it and have someone turn the headlights on, you should hear a click.

Also, the turn signal switch/cruise control switch, pull it forward towards the steering wheel and see if the lights come on. If the headlights come on when you pull that assembly towards the steering wheel I am thinking you have a bad headlight switch.

Have an ind?pendant shop look at it BEFORE you buy it. It could be many things and could get VERY expensive.

Check the ground cable from the battery to engine and from the battery to body/chassis. Let me know if you need any other help.

Hi, vws are very tricky when it comes to cooling sistem,they never get completly full of antefrezze and they need to be bleed in order to work properly , you can disconect the uper radiator hose to fill the sistem ,you must wait for the air to come out,be patient .good luck

Not sure what the other wires go to, maybe the air bag, regardless all instruments are working on the '89.
