Anti-theft system . Dealer , nothing you can do , disconnecting computers ,disconnecting the battery won't do anything ,. Light lit ? DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored . need to have a qualified repair shop diagnose it.
The first thing you can do Is disconnect battery for 10 seconds then reconnect..This will reset the complete vehicle system...Be sure all doors and windows are closed before you reset with the battery test...Also I have seen the same problem caused by a faulty key fob.....
Your new MAFS is not plug and play... you must clear all learnt data / fuel trim from ECU
Here is how:
Disconnect battery on + side, hold the + lead to earth (body, engine or chassis) this diffuses the system. Leave disconnected for 10 minutes, reconnect, start car and take on a 12 mile minimum drive (this is know as a drive cycle) pull over safely, switch off engine (new data now stores in ECU), start engine and happy motoring :o)
does the red light near the clock flash . This is the anti theft system. Mine sometimes wont start if this light is on or flashing. I sometimes turn the key over to the other side and it starts.. You may have an issue with the anti theft system an or your key may need re-programming. If this is not the problem than there may be ignition issues. Check the fuse panel under the hood for a bad relay or blown fuse. The panel is beside battery. The other fuse panel is under the steering wheel check it also for bad fuses. You can test the fuses with a multimeter set on continuity or resistance..
did you have the battery checked also? did you reconnect all wires to the alternator? sometimes there is an electrical connector that plugs into the alternator. If this is unplugged in the alternator will not charge the battery and car will die once battery is dead.
My 2000 cavalier has done this for 6 months. You take your key out then open your door, wait ten minutes and the system resets itself and the car will start-annoying you bet!!!
