P1151 - Lack of HO2S-21 Switch, Sensor Indicates Lean
A Heated Exhaust Oxygen (HO2S) sensor indicating lean at the end of a test is trying to correct for an over-rich condition. The test fails when the fuel control system no longer detects switching for a calibrated amount of time.

Symptoms: You will likely not notice any drivability problems.

Causes: A code P1151 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Electrical:
Short to VPWR in the harness or HO2S
Water in the harness connector
Open/shorted HO2S circuit
Corrosion or poor mating terminals and wiring
Damaged HO2S
Damaged PCM

Fuel System:
Excessive fuel pressure
Leaking/contaminated fuel injectors
Leaking fuel pressure regulator
Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel
Vapor recovery system

Induction System:
Air leaks after the MAF
Vacuum Leaks

PCV system:
Improperly seated engine oil dipstick

EGR System:
Leaking gasket
Stuck EGR valve
Leaking diaphragm or EVR

Base Engine:
Oil overfill
Cam Timing
Cylinder compression
Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2S(s)

I ran a check engine test and my 89 mustang and got the code10-snap throttle. whats this mean and how do i fix it?

code 10 snap throttle is a test that is done during the engine test.when you see this come up you are to quickly push the throttle to the floor and release.this checks for misfire on acceleration.there is nothing to fix as code 10 is asking you to do this operation.

Ford Mustang 2005. The imissions indicator light on the dash board is on. Is there a simple fix for this?

  • It could be an easy fix and it may not be. That light indicates something with the emissions has malfunctioned. You need to have the code read to know what is wrong. You can go to Auto Zone and have it read for free. Otherwise you will have to go to a repair shop or the dealer and have the code read for a fee. If you get the code pulled you can post the code here and I will return to answer what is wrong and how to fix it.
